    So basically, CSN Houston is demanding the following.

    DirecTV = $1,255,997.40/month; $15,071,968.80/year
    U-Verse = $1,063,261.60/month; $15,759,139.20/year
    Dish = $979,451.60/month; $11,753,419.20/year

    Total = $3,298,710.60/month; $39,584,572.20/year.

    That's about $41/household whether they're watching the games or not. Most won't be. If you go by the 1.5 share the Rockets got on FSN last season, then it breaks down to an average of $2,270/year per household that would actually be watching the games. In other words, if you were to shift the cost of carrying the channel entirely to only the households that would be watching the games, it would cost $2,270/year for those households. Probably more than that if you assume the TV audience will go down for Astros game. You can get some pretty decent season tickets for that price.

    Considering how much of the cost would need to be pushed onto people who wouldn't be watching the games anyway, I don't blame the other providers for balking at Comcast's demands.

    Obviously people like RM95 don't care but I'm sure Clutch does.

    Peace out Rockets....we had a good ride. As the price of food, gas, national debt, taxes, all increase,we the fan (customer) are pretty fed up. No matter what happens with AT&T, I am sure I will pay for it to continue to watch. But you guessed wrong because I will not pay for it. I hope you are reading Rockets brass....
    P.s. play some of the rookies, your team sux!

    This is like a restaurant charging $20 for a meal and they decide to add more food to the meal so they can charge $25. It's increased content that nobody freaking asked for.

    I'm still holdin out, but come the 8th game and I'm still not able to watch the games, it's adios to any Rocket fandom from me. That would be approximately 10% of the season that they have denied me as a result of their greed. After that, it's gonna take more than begging to win me back.

    I get that, but how much do I pay for those channels? If you do the math, you should be paying less (probably much less) than $0.50/channel. HBO gives you 7 channels (twice as many if you include the west coast broadcasts) for $16, and that's only for customers who want it. But CSN wants $3.40 from every customer for one channel? It's BS.

    EDIT: I found this chart of how much you pay for each channel. It's a few years old but should provide a nice reference.

    Here's a slightly more updated list.

    http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/141097593.html

    Sports channels cost the most, but CSN wants $1.93 more than what FSN was charging a few years ago. Specialized channels like the NFL Network cost $0.84.

    Given current prices, CSN Houston trying to make itself the 2nd most expensive channel in the lineup seems absurd.

    Let me get this straight - We paid millions of tax dollars for Toyota Center to be built, and subsidize a team and league that's given us a lockout, mobbed up refs, and now a cable provider dispute that means I can't watch the team that my money helps support?

    I guess this must be AT&T's fault, right, Comcast? I'd rather watch the games online and on the radio than support your business.

    I hope they never cave to these ridiculous demands.

    They don't even carry the Texans. That's a ridiculous price.

    How long are they locked into that? Comcast will eventually lower the asking price, but will the smaller providers (Phonoscope, etc) be stuck with Comcast's price gouging?

    This is so stupid.

    Just make CSN a non core channel and charge me for it, I really don't care.

    I just want to see the Rockets (in HD)

    This is one area where I feel the league has been negligent or behind the times. They really need to move to an a la carte (think iTunes store) business model at this point.

    If you want to charge me $10 to watch 5 rockets games at a time I would be totally cool with this.

    In all likelihood they'll make less money this way than they will whenever the channel and providers do come to an agreement. So it's not gonna happen.
