    Thanks Obama.

Murray Energy Fires 163 Workers, Citing a ‘War on Coal’

Murray Energy Corp., the largest closely held coal company in the U.S., is laying off 163 workers at three subsidiaries, citing a “War on Coal” by the Obama administration.

“The actions of Mr. Obama and his appointees in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Interior, Office of Surface Mining, and Department of Labor, have already led to the closure by 2014 of 204 American coal-fired power plants,” the company said in three statements e-mailed today.

Murray laid off 54 employees at The American Coal Co., based in Galatia, Illinois, 102 workers at Utah American Energy Inc., in East Carbon, Utah and seven workers at Kanawha Transportation Center Inc., in Wheeling, West Virginia.

U.S. coal producers have shut mines and fired thousands of workers this year after cutting tens of millions of tons of output in the face of weaker demand and prices. Coal use has declined as some power stations switched to burning natural gas. The industry is also facing regulations from the Environmental Protection Agency that restrict the burning of coal to produce power and limit new mining permits.

“The decision to lay people off was difficult and complicated. First, the Obama Administration’s War on Coal has already destroyed coal markets and resulted in the need for some layoffs,” Gary Broadbent, a spokesman for St. Clairsville, Ohio-base Murray Energy, wrote in an e-mail today.

“Second, the layoffs were more severe due to the anticipation of further damage to coal markets caused by the Obama Administration’s disastrous War on Coal.”

Chief Executive Officer Robert Murray read a prayer to workers asking God’s forgiveness for “decisions that we are now forced to make to preserve the very existence of any of the enterprises that you have helped us build,” the Washington Post reported.
    _____

Mr. Robert E. Murray's Prayer, as shared with his workers:

    Dear Lord:

The American people have made their choice. They have decided that America must change its course, away from the principals of our Founders. And, away from the idea of individual freedom and individual responsibility. Away from capitalism, economic responsibility, and personal acceptance.

We are a Country in favor of redistribution, national weakness and reduced standard of living and lower and lower levels of personal freedom.

My regret, Lord, is that our young people, including those in my own family, never will know what America was like or might have been. They will pay the price in their reduced standard of living and, most especially, reduced freedom.

The takers outvoted the producers. In response to this, I have turned to my Bible and in II Peter, Chapter 1, verses 4-9 it says, "To faith we are to add goodness; to goodness, knowledge; to knowledge, self control; to self control, perseverance; to perseverance, godliness; to godliness, kindness; to brotherly kindness, love."

Lord, please forgive me and anyone with me in Murray Energy Corp. for the decisions that we are now forced to make to preserve the very existence of any of the enterprises that you have helped us build. We ask for your guidance in this drastic time with the drastic decisions that will be made to have any hope of our survival as an American business enterprise.

    Amen.

VEGAS BUSINESS OWNER FIRES 22 EMPLOYEES AFTER OBAMA VICTORY
    by TONY LEE

After President Barack Obama won reelection, a Las Vegas business owner fired 22 employees because he feared he could no longer keep up with the costs that would be imposed on his business due to regulations such as Obamacare.
The business owner, who asked to remain anonymous, called into 100.5 KXNT and said “elections have consequences” and that “at the end of the day, I need to survive.”
“I’ve done my share of educating my employees. I never tell them which way to vote. I believe in the free system we have, I believe in the right to choose who they want to be president, but I did explain as a business owner that I have always put my employees first," the business owner said. "I always made sure that when I went without a paycheck that made sure they were paid. And I explained that I always put them first and unfortunately I’m at a point where I’m being forced to have to worry about me and my family now and a business that I built from just me to 114 employees."
The business owner said that he tried to explain to his employees a month ago that " if Obama gets in office that the regulations for Obamacare are gonna hurt our business, and I’m gonna have to make provisions to make sure I have enough money to cover the payroll taxes."
The business owner said he warned his employees, most of whom are Hispanic, of his concerns before the election, but now he unfortunately had to be "proactive" in firing 22 employees "to make sure that my business is gonna thrive and I’m gonna be around for years to come."
"I have to build up that nest egg now for the taxes and regulations that are coming my way," the business owner said. "The Dow alone lost 314 points today. There’s a tsunami coming and if you didn’t think this election had consequences, just wait.”

Obamacare Layoffs: Georgia Businessman Claims He Fired Workers Because Obama Won

WASHINGTON -- A man claiming to be a Georgia small business owner said he fired some employees and cut hours for others because of President Barack Obama’s reelection.

The man identified himself as Stu, without giving a last name, and said he owns a small aviation services company. He told C-SPAN’s Washington Journal that he “simply can’t afford” to run his business if he has to comply with the the Affordable Care Act.

“Yesterday I called all my part-time employees in and said because Obama won I was cutting their hours from 30 to 25 a week so i would not fall under the Obamacare mandate,” Stu, who said he is from Williamson, Ga., told C-SPAN.

Under the Affordable Health Care Act, businesses with more than 50 workers are required to provide health care coverage for full-time employees or those working more than 30 hours per week. Darden Restaurants, the parent company of Red Lobster and The Olive Garden, announced in October that it would test a plan that would boost the number of employees on part-time status in a handful of its markets.

“I had to lay two full-timers off to get under the 50-person cap,” Stu told C-SPAN. “I tried to make sure that the people I had to lay off voted for Obama.”

In terms of deflecting blame for Robert Allen style cuts that probably upped his bonus, he's probably pretty sharp.

not obama, the market, and if you live in texas and you are a tree hugger, you should love the fact that we are using natural gas. natural gas although being a fossil fuel is cheaper and cleaner than coal.

the army also has less horses

Let's not wait and see if what we fear comes true. Let's just fire everybody right now to try and make a political point.

I think working in gas and understanding how quickly most plants can and will switch their supply back-and-forth between different sources I probably don't fully agree with this statement, but I have to give reps for at least understanding this was a business decision pure and simple, with a little bit of political bluster for misdirection.

Especially considering his likely "method" for identifying Obama voters, assuming his FOI request didn't go through.

Fire the black guys, is that what you're insinuating the method might be? I'd be surprised if the ACLU doesn't get involved.

No, the firings are a direct result of the Obama War On Coal (OWOC).

Liberal media blaming natural gas instead of the war on coal. That's a lie.

Murray is the same company that forced their workers to attend a Romney rally and then didn't pay them for the day. Classy company. Not sure I would take anything they say at face value.

God answers Murray with a 4.3 magnitude earthquake near one of his mines.
    _____

    Earthquake rattles eastern Kentucky

A 4.3-magnitude earthquake struck eight miles west of Whitesburg, Ky., early Saturday afternoon, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The epicenter of the shallow, light earthquake was 0.7 miles deep under the Appalachian Mountains town of Blackey, near the Virginia border, the agency said.

The last time there was an earthquake near one of his mines...

Murray claims that the Crandall Canyon Mine collapse was triggered by a 3.9 magnitude earthquake, while government seismologists say the mine collapse was the cause of a coal mine bump.[13] Richard E. Stickler, the government's top mine safety official said "It was not -- and I repeat, it was not -- a natural occurring earthquake."[14]

Douglas S. Dreger, a seismologist at the University of California, Berkeley, said in the July 2008 issue of Science that his analysis strongly suggested that the mountain crumbled in two stages: After the pillars collapsed, giant, angled slabs of sandstone above the mine abruptly shifted. When the mine collapse finally occurred, it was so powerful that it registered as a 3.9 earthquake.

The people being fired and laid-off aren't going to blame Obama for it. They're going to blame the Republican businessmen who fired them and laid them off.

Keep it up though ... unions might return from the grave.

Hey if these guys want to screw up their businesses by firing labor the spent a ton of time searching for - that's great.

Either they were planning on firing them anyway and just using Obama as their excuse - or they are just stupid and deserve to have their businesses fail due to idiotic management.
