Do you know what is a justifiable salary for superstars like LeBron??

    Try somehwere between 50-60 million!

I have no doubt that Prokhorov and Buss would gladly pay Lebron 60 million if it's allowed by the new CBA!

Many knee jerking fans in GARM are really in an emotional wreck after this loss. Get out of kitchen if you can't stand the heat! This young team comes with growing pain for the forseeable future.

In the mean time, I am 100% supportive of Rockets players, FO, and especially our coaching staff.

    torocan,

I am a lurker from PSD and always enjoyed your posts. You are really talking to a bunch of people who are driven by their emotions, no logic to dictate their thoughts. I wouldn't be surprised if most have just started following bball recently.

Only if they get paid millions of dollars a year. If they got paid my chef salary which is only in 6 figure then I wouldn't criticize.

As I said before the season started, the Rockets are a bottom-5 team this year.

I seemed to spark a reaction from simple questioning.

My concern is that Harden is being paid more than he should, especially if the team has no pressure to win or make playoffs. This seems like a bad strategy.

If we try to rebuild we shouldn't have salary disparity among players. But since Harden is making so much money he automatically becomes team scapegoat, by default. People will hold this guy accountable if we lose because of his large contract. As chef, I am lucky to make a 6 figure income at my restaurant and I am held accountable for services, this Harden guy makes like 200x as much as me and should be held accountable for ROckets success or failure.

When you earn the most, you take most responsibilities. That is how business work.,

Les the one who have to pay the millions.. he should be the one complaining... right?

Looking at the 5 games so far... I don't think that anyone is overpaid.. Despite being young, not yet familiarize, and the coach still testing the bench and plays.. Rockets have been playing decent... don't mind the ugly plays, every team will have those.. I actually enjoyed the games so far..

Basketball is a team sport. One player can only do so much.

    Why are people so upset?

I honestly do not understand why some people have such severe reactions to the way this team has played recently.

People can't seriously think that this team was gearing up for a deep playoff run this season. (bear in mind I did believe we'd make the playoffs after the trade)

People have to step back into reality and see that this season was not one that we were meant to be successful in. Even with the trade for James Harden.

    1) We went from having the best Point Guard tandem in the league last year - to having Jeremy Lin and Tony Douglas.

    2) We have no low post presence whatsoever on offense.

    3) We have the most predictable offense in the league.

The sooner people realise that Harden isn't going to frequently put up the numbers he did in those first two games - the better. Teams will double him all day long as long as the team is constructed the way it is. His 'poor' play isn't based on his talent/skill level at all - it is purely for the fact he is the first, second and third defensive assignment that other teams have.

    4) Kevin McHale.

    5) We are the youngest team in the league.

Enough about the doom and gloom.

When people can accept what the immediate future holds in store for this team - the brighter the mid-to-long term actually looks.

    1) We are the youngest team in the league.
Our best player is 23 years old and has already gone to the NBA Finals.

    2) We have the cap space to bring in another max contract.
This is huge if we use it correctly. If we bring in a player who is at least competent on the offensive side of the ball - that defensive bullseye painted on Harden's back disappears.
When I think of another quality player on this team - I picture Harden's series against the Mavericks last season - with those constant attacks on the rim because there wont be a couple of players blocking off the dribble penetration after the pick.

    3) A huge problem we faced in the past few seasons was a defensive anchor at the rim.
We now have that with Asik. One thing I've loved in his first few games is the way he goes straight up with his arms in the air when guards drive in and try to make contact. I haven't seen too many fouls called on him in these situations.

    4) If we continue down this mediocre path - McHale will have to be replaced at some point in time.

Although I'm pretty disappointed at the decision to let not one but both of Lowry and Dragic go - only to sign Lin - I still feel the future is bright for the Rockets.

I would hazard a guess at saying practically every team in the league would've wanted James Harden.

I think it would be suffice to say that only a handful would have been able to offer him the max contract to secure his services.

The Rockets were thankfully one of the few teams that could do that.

The Rockets are the only team who now have the cap space to sign another max free agent.

First of all, it's not your money. Second of all he's not making any part of 80 million till next year.

Well, one of the problems is that we have an 80 million dollar player who has been playing like a 40 million dollar player.

That might have something to do with the negativity, just a guess.

He makes 5.8 million this year. Just drop it before you 'spark off' another chain of reaction!

If your ok with losing when realistically you could be winning then that's a problem. If best effort is given on all levels of the game like coaching, game strategy and playing then I could see but the Rockets are not doing that hence why so many people are mad. If this is not fixed doesn't matter if we get another superstar we won't win the championship. It's like a lot of us forgot how we won in the mid 90's. Look at that starting line up and the bench then look at our team... Our team is like a marketing basketball team for diversity like a poor mans San Antonio spurs with a extremely poor mans Greg Popovich in Kevin McHale. We lack discipline, smart game planning, defense and three point shooting efficiency. Our rookies are arguably better than some of our starters lol

Should probably stick to cooking instead of being an armchair GM.

People saw Harden's first two superman-mode games and their expectations went off the roof.

    RELAX!

We are a YOUNG team that's going to have some bumps and bruises.

    Remember,
our starting point guard is coming back from an injury

our starting shooting guard is getting used to being the number one option on a new system / team

our starting small forward is in his second season

our starting power forward is in his third season trying to expand his game

our starting center has never started on a team or play this many minutes

and our bench is full of rookies
