    Some respectful insight

    1. Stop preaching the up tempo offense. We have to coach towards the type of players we have - and our players are not athletic. Currently we seem to do pretty well when there is a time out and there is a set play.

    2. Asik can't do the pick N roll. For a successful pick and roll, the picker must be able to be athletic and quickly roll or be able to pop a mid range jumper. That is why Staudimire was so good at it. We need the forward to set the pick.
Use Asik on the far side, under the basket. If the the guard is able to penetrate, then Asik can either get a rebound or be a receiver of a pass if his defender goes to help.

    3. Lin/Harden/Delfino splitting time on the guard position like today was good.

    4. Use more of your forwards. You have good forwards siting on the bench under utilized. One of them have to sub for Chandler. For some reason Delfino is coming in for Chandler and I don't think that is a smart move. Currently the only bright spot of our team have been the forward play.
And I don't want to hear the excuse of not using rookies. Other teams use rookies. Lets not be stubborn.

    5. Lin - go back to original plan. The original plan was Lin and in first 2 games, you did that. Let Lin do his thing. Harden is good enough player to do his thing while Lin has the ball. We did that in the first 2 games. Then all of a sudden.....Lin seems to just bring the ball up and hide in the corner. Shoot, even I can do that. Pay me millions to bring the ball up and hand it to someone. Stay with the original plan.

    6. For some odd reason the players giving the ball the Asik at the top of the Key. What in the world? Anyone with any coaching experience is watching that and wondering what is going on?

Currently the is energy and I see the defense is good.

I know you coaches will never read this post. But I wish.

    7. Give the rookies some burn. We have a really talented rookie in Jones who outplayed Davis in the preseason game. No one can seriously argue that Jones will suck more than Patterson. He will instantly help us with rebounding and defense, both in which he is better than Patterson. A 7 man rotation is the perfect recipe for injuries. Wouldn't you rather just play rookies now than be forced to play them when someone gets injured playing heavy minutes so early on in the season ?

Good. The coaches listened to us and didn't play Douglas. Maybe they will listen to all these points too.

    OP-

The fact that the coaches are already making major changes to the lineup & rotation in just 5 games is a major sign that they are not happy with the current lineup's performance.

-They can't just change EVERYTHING overnight to accommodate your requests. However, this is a sign that things are going to change slightly game to game until they find their grove.

-Asik creates an amazing amount of space for his PG's on the floor. He isn't a roller just yet, and needs some work with his hands & post moves around the bucket. However, he is much better than average setting picks for the guards to create space. If you think otherwise, you need to get comcast so you can watch the Rockets on TV and not some shady internet site. Either that or just stop posting threads when you cannot give a quality analysis.

-Use more of your forwards?? The Rockets used 5 tonight in the rotation going big when the bench came on. Again... did you just watch the game tonight or did you just see the box score? McHale might not have played the bigs you wanted to see (most likely rooks), but he played plenty of Forwards tonight.

-The Guards give Asik the ball at the top of the key to reset the offense, and create space away from their defender. Pretty basic NBA basketball play. Its not like they are expecting him to run the high post of anything.

-Uptempo offense- So do you think this team can grind out JVG type of halfcourt games? How do you expect to win games scoring 70 PPG as a team. The Rockets do not have a big man they can run their offense through, they have to push the ball just like 90% of NBA teams have to do to give themselves a chance at winning NBA games. NBA defenses are just too good to score in the half court without a low post stud to run your offense through.

-LOF much? - Lin has his share of touches to create off the dribble & P&R. McHale will have to keep adding in plays in the next couple of weeks that get more people involved in the offense. When they develop more offensive sets it will take alot of the pressure off of those two guys, and they will look much more fluid within the offense.

Right now, they are playing hero ball, and those two just aren't good enough to be winning games that way against contending teams. Against bottom feeders it will work most of the time though.

I did watch the game. Been watching everyone game. I'm ok with any disagreement. It's what the forum is for. However...maybe also watch other NBA games like from 20 years till now.

I just clearly don't understand how you can say Asik is a pick and roll guy. Anyone can set a pick. They have to be able to roll effectively to the basket and also shoot a mid range shot.

Basically the whole scheme of things are totally wrong with the type of players Houston has. Plus the rotation is a wrong. I'm sure the coaches will eventually see the situation and correct.

I am not a whiner and just complain. I will come with real suggestions. Please don't ask if I have watched the game. Yes watching Houston's games are important but to know how to fix the situation requires also watching other games and past history of games.

You can't have Lin hiding in the corner on offense. You have to give Lin the ball and have others cutting to the basket. Give him a pick and roll guy who can shoot the jumper.

A low post presence that can pass the ball is also required. Harden can play like Jordan and Kobe. (Like but not the same level) And the triangle offense required a low post who can pass and sometimes score.

Basically, the current scheme must change. I just don't see how we going to have a winning season with the type of roster we have matched with what the coaches have written up. The coaches have to change the set plays.

Get Asik off the top of the key and put him down low on offense. Its that simple.

Not true. This is like saying anyone can box out for a rebound. The ability to set good screens is an undervalued quality, and Asik is particularly good at it.

I do agree with you that Lin needs to be used differently. We're forcing the ball into Harden too much. There needs to be a better balance in our attack.
