Im not a hater...Im merely pointing out that if he were to improve, this is the area I would want him to improve. Funny that you guys are sitting there thinking that Im a Kubiak hater and nothing will ever make me happy. Im satisfied. You guys are getting panties twisted over nothing.
We didn't get off to a fast start in that game. Early on, it looked as though we were headed for another clunker, until our "character-needy" team completely flipped the script and then blew them out. Hopefully, the kind of character that would not be down 2 touchdowns at home to an inferior team?
It's unrealistic to think that the Texans will be able to navigate through the entire postseason without ever being down at some point. And I think you're delusional if you consider New England an "inferior" football team, they're a battle tested group with one of the best QB's to ever lace them up, they've also improved on defense this year. That doesn't mean that I think they're better than us, but they're certainly not "inferior", either.
*chuckle*I am the delusional one, yet you need some hypotheitcal circumstance of the Texans being down 2 TDs and coming back in order to justify their character. And you use New England as an example of being the team that they would be down these 2 TDs, based on what? Oh yeah, they put up video game numbers on the powerhouse franchise that is the Rams. Newsflash... They have also lost to Arizona, Baltimore, and Seattle.....and should have lost to the Jets. This year, at this point in the season, they are clearly "inferior" to the Texans. I get it...we as Texans fans are not used to this feeling of having a dominant team, but can we at least try and enjoy it while it lasts?
I don't know if I agree with that assessment about Schaub. He has had some games in the past where he looked pretty damn good while bringing the texans back from behind. unfortunately a lot of those games ended up with a defense giving back the lead.
It's not really that big of a stretch when you consider that there is a good chance we will have to play against Roethlisburger or Manning in the first round, Brady in the 2nd, and either Rodgers or Eli in the SB. Only a fool would think that we're going to hold a lead for every minute of every game against those kind of teams.
Like when he threw the ball to Michael Huff against the Raiders last year to end the game? That was the defense fault?
Nobody said that we would never be down to a quality opponent in the playoffs. I just find it amusing that you still need to be convinced that this team has character.
If you remember that game correctly... The raiders d-line was stout, winning every battle against the o- line. Schaub took hits from every angle. That last play, should have been a game winning FG if vickers doesn't drop a walk in touchdown pass on the previous possession. TEAM game. As long as the line is holding up for matt, giving him decent protection, he can mount comebacks and put up numbers as much as the chosen ones that you fantasy dorks adore. Schaub, along with the male model, are the two best quarterbacks on the road in the past five years. It's a shame some of our fans and media can't appreciate what a special player he is. The problem with schaub is that if that oline concedes defeat, then we're screwed. But that happens to every qb when they face a flat out stellar performance from the opposing front 7. i swear i saw rodgers pee his pants when he was getting sacked by the seahawks over and over again & brady last year against the ravens. I know it must be difficult for schaub detractors in town to accept that you need him to advance. You guys are fans right?
I see Schaub for what he is, he's a game manager. That doesn't mean that I think he sucks or that we can't win a SB with him at QB, it just means that the rest of our team has to be solid, defense has to force turnovers, special teams needs to be much better than they have been, the running backs are going to need to average closer to 4.5 ypc.
Yeah, I do think Wade saved his job...is that unreasonable? Kubiak lacked success in Houston until last season. I dont hate Kubiak, as I think he does a great job with the offense, but his hires on defense have been downright awful. Anyone that doesnt agree with that is delusional. Just because I think he coaches like a pu$$y doesnt mean I dont like the guy. He's too conservative for me. But does that mean I hate his entire body of work? Not at all. I would run the ball on all 3rd and longs in the first half...and I would go for points at the end of every half, if the opportunity is realistic. Again, stop making such a big deal about this...you people need to chill.
i think kubes is still rounding the offense into form. i can see some of his stubborn and ill-timed play calling from early in the either working or leading to play action. seems like we're kinda in scrimmage mode. all this, by the way, is probably just in my wildest dreams.
you just proved conquistador's point. football is a team game. just like the almighty Drew brees who is "elite" can't overcome a bad defense. and Peyton Manning, who has been spectacular in the 4th quarter, AFTER his defense causes turnovers. a prerequisite to leading your team to victory is having a defense that can keep the score close. Schaub has made great comebacks and has had his failures. this year he hasn't had a chance for a last drive victory because well, he's been a big reason they've been up big and don't need to.
Reading comprehension...I said " a lot of the time", not all the time. conquistador and macalu made the other valid points.
For any of you true Texans fans...some of the guys will be at Katsuya tomorrow night if you want to join in on some fun. Kubiak might swing by too, so you guys can tell him how much you love him.
I will say if it was any other team, he would have been fired years ago. Oh well, the record this season speaks for itself.
Wait. I'm confused. So now it's okay to run on 3rd and long in the first half? You do know that a majority of times the Texans have run on 3rd and long is in the first half, right? Wade saved his job but so did Rick Smith bringing in Manning, Joseph, and drafting Watt and Yates. You can't knock him for his signings on defense before Wade and then give the credit to Philips now. If he selected the signings that have been "downright awful" then give him credit for the signings that have been on the money.
