Here are the reasons to fire McFail: 1. Horrible substitution (This guys DOES NOT play rookies. PERIOD. What's the point of drafting rookies and what's the point of starting over as an organization without letting them grow? I swear if Jeremy Lamb is in this lineup, he wouldn't even play him either. The thing that tick me is that i don't mind if he doesn't play the other rookies, but Terrence Jones is the real deal and there is no reason to sit him on the bench. How is Terrence Jones not better than Marcus MORON (I mean Morris). 2. We could have won the Portland game if he have any clue or leadership skills. Your team is up by 3 pts with about maybe 45secs left in the game and you let the other team shoot a 3 to tie it?? If he instruct his team not to double Aldridge, they would STILL be up by 1 pt EVEN if Adridge made the basket. Why not take a chance and let Patterson guard Adridge one on one and hope he miss. If he missed, we have a real shot at winning. Instead, you have Harden going there doubling him and leaving someone open to shoot 3 to tie the game. This tells me the coach did not obviously do his job. The thing i like about him?? Incredible team defense.
I think our next coach is already on the team... Kelvin Sampson from all of his interviews and the way we have seen him interact with players looks like he will make an excellent coach. Plus he probably is better at rotations and offense than Mchale.
You have my approval and it's not to early either. Look at all the player issues he had last year! Just look at his game style(lack of one) and rotations(horrible). It's a clueless philosophy. All he did was make excuses to save his job while throwing the team under the bus. Example: during a team and season ticket holder dinner, he's calls up scott machado and begins to tell everybody that scott barked at him and wouldn't listen to what he was saying and he had a ny attitude and just be quite in front of all the ticket holders. This was supposed to be a meet and greet dinner.
Your right the Next coach is already on the Team but it isnt Sampson its Finch Moreys hand picked favorite. Remember Adleman would still be here if he woulde have moved Finch to Assistant Head Coach. Finch also coached England in the olympics.
I realize that Morey wanted Finch to be on the staff ... and i agree that he is likely the favorite.. but from what I've seen so far finch hasnt done his job. Isnt he here to ensure that the rockets offense keeps elements of Adelman's system. Meanwhile every interview we've seen from sampson i've seen a guy who knows what he is talking about and seems to have a great bond with the players... if it was up to me I'd give sampson a shot before Finch.
There's nothing "New Age" about certain rookies that can HELP this team sitting on the bench. As much as I'm excited about the acquisition of Harden, I'm disappointed that all the excitement built up about our young players seems to have been a waste of time. A new year. A new team. A new AGE, ruined due to having a closed minded coach. Reality is, Rockets aren't going ANYWHERE with this current roster. Jones & White need to play. ESPECIALLY when other players are struggling & making mistakes. When are we ever going to have a coach that will pull players when they're struggling?! If anything, sitting them will motivate them to improve. This is rediculous.
If Morey is serious about winning a championship, he will have to hire a new coach. D has done an excellent job of acquiring young, talented players, but this only underlines how important it is that they have an excellent coach to guide them. Jerry Sloan is an outstanding choice, but he clashed with one of his "new school" superstars, Deron Williams. Would he have similar issues with another young superstar in James Harden? Can PJacks handle the rigors of nba travel? Would any coach draw more backlash from the refs (via stern) than Stan Van?
As nice as Lin can be as a person, if he gets mad at and argues with Mchale during the Nuggets game, then I'm going to believe Mchale is a bad coach, because Lin has too much credit in the EQ department. This one's on you Mcfail.
Didnt wanna start a new thread and dont wanna be put at the stake...but in terms of coaching options... I would really open to Jerry Sloan(if he wants to come back out of retirement)..just saying... 1. Harden would master the art of the pick and roll (hoping Asik can be that big) 2. He would get solid defensive play out of the players on the team 3. He would be hella creative with plays 4. Would be a good coach to start a young team heading in the right direction Negatives: 1. This guy is a micromanager...its his way or the highway 2. He used to be an archnemesis playing with the Utah J.zz 3. He would bring a flopper label to our organization... Overall Thoughts: An HOF coach, with a great track record for maximizing his talents. If McHale is a players coach and allows free reign to his PGs, Sloan is way on the other end of the spectrum...
Rookies are contributing for lots of teams around the league, but this failure of a coach won't play the rookies on the Rockets' bench even though they're better than some of the people he's using in the rotation. Also, our rookies outplayed a lot of these rookies that are currently seeing regular mins during the summer league (see Meyers Leonard vs D-Mo).
My point was not about who won the argument, or who's right. It's Lin expression towards Mchale, clearly shows he's irritated. Something Mchale doing is wrong and I can feel it.
Some new guys don't realize that rockets fans HATE everything and anything that has to do with the Jazz. Juck the Fazz!
