If your expectation is the police will stop a rape before the fact, good luck with that. They aren't posting a guard outside your house.

Obviously you aren't forced to protect yourself. If you want to keep the doors unlocked with no personal protection, that's your right.

 

Just the threat of police might come in a few minutes prevent most people from committing crimes. If you just remove all police forces from this country, you will see what happen to crime rates.

 

And the term Libertarian was hijacked from members of the first International that opposed Marx's state socialism and were anything but Laissez-faire fetishists. Outside US it is used to describe different streams of anarchism. It's way more Emma Goldman than it is Ayn Rand.

The closest thing I can think of real libertarian ideas but into action were in pre-Franco Catalonia, and that was a state that relied heavily on the very things the US Libertarian Party despises: Labor Unions.
