Hey man, I've been around here longer than you have. I know what happens on this board. Just sharing my opinion, voice of reason is annoying but often necessary.
So basically, your point is to stop b****ing until later and accept the flaws that seem apparent. Granted I agree with your take on Patterson and Jones and people should stop whining about Jones not getting minutes but McHale and the overall lack of a system on the court besides basic basketball is worrisome.
4-5 D-League caliber players make up our bench And yet the rooks we invested so much in can't get one minute over them?
As I expected everybody is overreacting to a loss. This team is not even supposed to be a contender yet. Anyway, the Rockets have two guards who are at there best when they attack. However, because the Rockets are a poor 3 point shooting team the opposing team can just pack the paint preventing Lin & Harden from doing what they do best. The few times Harden got into the paint he was getting hacked & the refs were not calling the fouls. As soon as I saw Iggy push Lin & not get the call was nonsense. Prepare for more of this because good defensive teams will exploit this.
Not dmo or Tjones is a failure. Not playing Greg smith is just stupid. You'll put Marcus Morris out there and let him learn and bump his head on the fly, but not guys who actually have skill sets that make us better? In what way does Marcus Morris make the rockets a better team when he's on the court? At least Douglas is an active defender...what does Morris do? He doesn't post up smaller players...he can't consistently beat anyone off the dribble...he's not some rebound swallower or lock down defender... He's a hustle guy with a slightly above average offensive game. Morris and Patterson are our three point shooters? That's terrible.
At least we're losing to good teams and not the Bobcats. Not much I know, but things could be worse. We could be the Lakers. Hehe
I am fine with that... is just I dont know why the Rox were trying to post the guy up.... dude was brought here for defense...
Before the season start, i have hope for the Rockets after Harden signed, and also hope due to the potential of the rookies, but after seeing McFail not even playing them....my hope is going down several notches. It's not that the Rockets are a bad team, it's McFail not giving them a chance to shine....wtf! He's betting on the garbage players to shine, yes i said it, MORRIS and Douglas are GARBAGE PLAYERS. No matter how many minutes you let them play, they're NOT going to be all of a sudden become a decent player...no f way. They had played enough games and proven they suck. Maybe one game they're great....that's about it. So my question is...what the hell is McFail doing w/ these group of players?? How the hell is this going to help the team grow?
Maybe...just maybe, coach is not playing the rookies in case they get hurt and can't be traded? Maybe...just maybe, Morey is working on another big trade?
So you joined the board the year after you drafted KG. Long time Rockets fan, i like it. Nice try coach!
George Karl will go down as one of the alltime greats...I just want McHale to run an offense that shows...for a lack of a better word: "thought"...
Not a fan of McHale, but don't hate him either. He doesn't have a good backup point guard or SG. His team has too much inexperience. No time together. He has an incredibly deep PF position, but he doesn't have that stud yet. This team was built on getting the best players, see who develops, and try to trade/sign a star. I prefer Adelman, but he had faults, too. That ship has sailed. McHale has been better than I expected. He has been more willing to have guards penetrate to initiate offense than I expected. He actually shows a willingness to try to develop a system that fits his players. His effectiveness won't really be known until he has a more balanced team. Morey, get to work!
I will say, watching this team on offense is not easy. It seems much of the time to be either iso with Harden or pick-and-roll with Harden. If that doesn't work, then he, Lin, and Parsons hand the ball off to each other on the perimeter for a while until the shot clock is about to expire. Then one of them drives to the basket and throws up an ugly shot/layup. Patsquatch still isn't a reliable scoring post, and when we give the ball to Asik on a post-up I cover my eyes. It just seems like there has to be a better way to play on offense. But then, maybe this team just isn't that good and this is the best we can do?
