basketball IS my sport. I can discuss it with the best of them, however there hasn't been a good topic in a while.

besides, it doesn't matter what thread I post in there is always a durant-gay reference (i'm actually proud of this, in a way), since I made some board history with the statement.

if a good basketball topic shows up, you'll see a differnt level of post from me.

actually what happened is hollins. He doesn't allow sg's to shoot the ball. In his system, a sg is only as good as his intangibles BEYOND shooting the ball.

Any grizzlies fan could have told you that OJ was going to thrive in another system, it was pretty common knowledge.

and in point of fact, I really don't care much about how oj does because I knew it coming in that he was going to do better in dallas. Hollins would have benched oj for 5 games if oj shot 17 times on his team.

another fact: the guy I regret losing is actually grevis vasquez. It was a dumb trade at the time and it still is a dumb trade now. Pondexter is playing pretty good, but he is no vasquez and never will be.

Just because basketball is your sport doesn't mean you know anything about it. Too me you lost all credibility with your legendary Rudy Gay-Kevin Durant thread. I mean really, it's well known that players that already have a developed skill set(Rudy Gay) rarely ever take their games to elevated levels because they have already come close to peaking. The only players to really take their games leap and bounds above what they were playing at before on a per minute basis after their 3rd year developed a new fundamental skill in order to do so. Like the 3pter(Kobe) or controlling tempo (Billups)

I have to say that Cuban is doing a heck of job rebuilding the Mavs. They will have maximum cap room next summer. And Dirk most likely still has a few years left in him.

totally agree...its funny how no one is betting on the mavs to come out of the west. they have one heck of a team this year for a final run at the title. they front line is scary good, infact, I would probably have their front line over the lakers.

if it fails, like you said, their cap situation is incredible.

There are some LOFs who still believe he is:rolleyes:

Lin is an average point guard. He is not even a top 15 point guard in the league, maybe not even top 20.

more like, Rick Carlisle showing the world he's the best X/O coach in the NBA.
OJ Mayo... Darren Collison... Brendan Wright... Chris Kaman...
Carlisle isn't just winning, he's saving careers and he's going to get some guys paid this summer.

    Easy now.

Carlisle might be the second best coach, though, yeah.

You are acting as if this isn't a legit opinion. Many people share it.

Carlisle isn't a communicator Pop is, which is why he failed in Indiana in the end. But when it comes to pure basketball mind and ability to build the right system, I won't put anyone above him.

You do realize that Mayo's essentially on a one-year deal, with a PLAYER option for next season, right?

Mayo (who I've always liked and thought wasn't given enough opportunity to shine in Memphis) is going to play his ass off this season for his next contract, then opt out of his deal to seek big money on the free agent market. If he plays like an All-Star this season, he'll get paid. (Harden's still better, though.)

Franchise player in the sense that he's had to take on some of the scoring load against bad, bad teams and no defense while their actual franchise player is recovering.
