Did he really get chewed out? For what? Deferring too much?

But well said, Lin can't win. All the BS from NY followed him here. He seems like he has the most polarizing fan base. Not fair at all.

To add to what you said, yesterday they worked on Defense.

Besides installing more Harden based schemes/plays - and McHale wanted to have the ball move through Harden.

I can tell that this isn't working - they have to go back to letting Harden just BALL. Uncuff Lin and don't mandate that Harden holds the ball indefinately - give it to Harden as the opportunity arises. Instead of letting him get swarmed and trapped.

Harden had 5 TOs not too long ago and 6 this game. having 4 TOs in the first 10 min of a game has got to suck the heart out of the starting squad and be very demoralizing and tough for Harden. His missed free throws spoke volumes about where he was mentally.

People have to remembered that fire that Lin had to walk through last season. Thats why even though he was geysering blood and had a hankerchief shoved up his nose - he easily swished those 2 last free throws.

The guy doesn't have QUIT in any part of his bone.

Take the pressure off Harden and let him play - and he will drop 40 again the next game you do. Give Lin the greenlight and support to play his game instead of try to mold him into a Steve Novak.

Bring in the damned rookies. Send Parsons to the 2nd unit. Delfino have him start - saw lots of good stuff. +++ Asik ++++ to Lin +++ Delfino ++++ Harden - he still grinded.

Regardless its way too damn early - lets get to the all star break. Going to cross my fingers and hope McHale returns the team back to pre game 3 n 4 offense.

    Honestly, we don't really know.

Remember, when Lin stepped into the Knicks PG role, the rest of the team ALREADY knew all the sets and what to do, they just didn't have a good enough PG to do them.

In this situation, most of his team mates (13 NEW players) do NOT know the sets, don't have the reps down, or the time that playing during regular season gives players to master their execution.

They may just be treating these games as practices/training camp. Especially since they're also trying to integrate Harden (who has had VERY little time to integrate the sets).

I have a hard time believing, given how Lin/Harden played right out of the gate, that McHale is intentionally lowering their output UNLESS he's trying to teach the team, since it would be SO much easier to just hand the ball to them and let them street ball it.

I'm hoping there's a method to the madness.

Seriously, we have a young, inexperienced team. I think our guys played hard. So they out-stink the Nuggets, but the effort was there. Don't bash them yet, it's YOUR team for Pete's sake. Where are the ROF s when you need them?

No finger pointings please. Win as a team, loss as a team, stink as a team.

No 3pt threat in this team, yet you always find one of them parking at the 3pt line... SMH... This is not going to work. I rather see Harden & Lin run more PnR (like the first 2 games), let them set up the offense and find the open man.

So typical, 2 wins and we are a playoff team. 2 losses and everyone sucks lets fire the coach.

Lets have some patience and give this young team some time before making the judgement.

2-2 is not a terrible start for a team that was not expected to make any noise this season.

    Lin sucks and he's soft.

He actually looked good in the last 3 minutes of the 4th quarter but aside from that pure trash. He's pretty much a non-factor on this team at the moment.

Looking for the contact rather than trying to finish at the rim, hesitating/passing up open shots, continuing to play his , being passive on offense by handing the ball over to Harden to bail him out rather than trying to run the team and look for his shot (surely someone has told him he's the 2nd option on the team right?)

Harden really wasn't that much better either. 6 turnovers & got butt raped by Iguodala. Honey moon period looks like it's over.

Parsons proving why he's a 2nd round pick, no handles, can't shoot, can't finish & Asik is completely inept on the offensive end. Patpat was the only competent starter today but he got outclassed by Faried on the other end.

    Just awful viewing.

The bench actually kept us in the game today. Douglas, Aldrich and Delfino kept us in the game. Douglas. Aldrich. Delfino.

The less said about McHale the better.

    Smh

Lin needs to step it up, end of story.

And WTF is up with Hardens turnovers...6 today, I swear he's averaging five or something.

I know this is only the 4th game, but whatever happened to the exciting young team? The free flow offense?

Harden says that he plays off naturally. It is obvious that when things are not going his way, passing is not his natural instinct. All he has in his mind is the basket. Guess what? The other team knows and they adjust. So whatever happened to other natural instinct?

Asik, with all his rebounds and defensive help, is a liability on the offensive end. Cmon big man! He gets the ball under the basket and he is still trying to pass? Get up and dunk that ball. I don't care if he gets blocked, but act like a big man for once.

Lin. We are paying big bucks for this? We don't need someone to come in and pass to the guy next to you. A pg supposed to take what they give. I see a lot of open little jump shots after he goes by his defender. All he is doing is looking to pass. Cmon little man! You know an open 5 footer is better than an open 23 footer. And worse, he only takes the wide open shots, and he bricks most of it. Shameful.

Mchale. I hope he learns that it takes more than just playing hard to win games. You need set plays, some organization, some discipline. All I saw, was bunch of pnr and when that was stopped, all hell broke loose. It was free for all. Pathetic.

    LOF's getting emotional already.

Lin shooting like a bum and being passive on offense is ALL on McHale & Harden right? LOL.

He sucked under Woodson, he sucked in pre-season & he's sucking to start this year.

Surely he deserves some of the blame?

Hate to say it but lack of effort in the first half cost them the game. It took a grilling by Mchale to get them to play defense and thats never a good sign. Thats on the coaching staff IMO.

Actually, Lawson put up 9 points and had 6 assists while being guarded by Douglas. Douglas only played 15 minutes. Lawson scored 12 points and 2 assists while guarded by Lin. Lin guarded Lawson for the other 23 minutes Lawson played.

Yes if this is Lin himself being passive against the Coach's wishes then I would agree. Either that or the coaching staff is trying to make Lin play a different game. Whatever the case, Lin is not really playing his game right now. If he himself is the reason for it, then yes, he is playing soft and scared

I noticed that too. That's assistant coach Kelvin Sampson. Did you notice the beginning of the game, Clyde was commenting coach Sampon's words (showed on the screen) about their offense: Sampson wants the offense mainly through Harden no matter what. Clyde was disagreeing that. It's very obvious Lin was told to defer!
