There are Asians that work hard and are conservative Christians. Just because someone is conservative Christian, doesn't mean they are not educated and not knowledgeable. Being a Christian, also does not mean he or she is automatically Republican.

I give a pretty good description of the type of Christians I am talking about, namely the strong conservative evangelical Christians.

Same boat here. I abstained both in 2008 and yesterday. I used to consider myself Republican. I hate a lot of the rhetoric I hear from the party now. Not quite sure what I am right now. Probably libertarian to an extent.

If there were credible Republican candidates, I think the Asians would consider them. The Republicans candidates have been losing credibility.

Also, I dont think an average Asian american is going to be gullible enough to be brain washed by Fox network. They are going to be asking questions.

I think this phenomena extends to most middle class immigrant voters.

Hey, thats just my hunch and I could be totally wrong.

Idiotic. The same group of engineers, doctors, and lawyers you list are also the ones getting labeled as rich ($250k+) and targeted all election season by the left. They are diabolical because they don't agree with that label or don't like being attacked for all their hard work that brought them to that income level? They've been swing voters in the past for a reason. Most are probably fiscally conservative and socially moderate. I know I am.

I didn't agree with one side on the fiscal issues and the other side on the social so I didn't vote this time. But if the GOP softens their stance on the social issues, more will come back... to the dark side as you so uneloquently put it.

The blog article I posted above says that moderates are left leaning and independents are right leaning. I guess they have to make up more strata of demographics.

    I think you mean Hippocrates?

He once said "Extreme remedies are appropriate for extreme disease." Savvy?

    Lol. "Idiotic."

Are you able to discern what fiscally conservative actually means? Serious question. I'd like to know what fiscally conservative is to you? Starting a war on false pretenses and not paying for it? Socializing the risk and privatizing the gains? Forcing American taxpayers to bail out banks when they really didn't deserve it?

And BTW don't take it so personally. I wasn't even referring to you. I was writing about the intelligent Republicans.

I remember my dad voting for HW Bush and Dole. He considered himself a businessman and donated enough to goto the convention in the Astrodome. He also weighted a candidate's foreign policy wrt Taiwan.

My first vote was for Dubya. Gore was being torn apart personally and ethically. I didn't live in Texas then so his daddy's aura carried strong with him along with the fact that his advisers were old Sr's friends.

I consider myself center-left, but I'm really more anti-Republican than anything else. I'm pretty realistic about self-determination, self-organization, and self-imposed boundaries. I also think protecting families is worth bending some liberties as children's lives generally benefit with 2 parents more than one...especially if the children are girls.

I'm also open to starting my own business someday, and all the B&Ming about red tape will play in my head. As long as this is still the country to do it, I don't mind testing those waters.

I do want to say that from personal experience, Asians tend to be fairly Libertarian. So I don't think it's a shock if many vote Republican. Of course, this is assuming a "normal" Republican party and not the bizarro version we see today.
