Why did the asians choose to vote for the democratic party?

This. It would be a shocking anomaly to me if Asians didn't vote for Dems the vast majority of the time. Especially with the GOP like it is now.

 

For the same reasons Cubans tend to vote republican. However, that is changing with the younger generation.

 

It doesn't surprise all that much that most Asians are Democrats, largely because I think that there really are differences between Asian Asians and Asian Americans - after all, if they were alike, they would have no reason to come to the United States. The Japanese are particularly interesting in that case, especially since most of them live in two of the most liberal states.

But Born's schpiel about whites being The Man and how there's some solidarity between Asians and blacks even though he claims that blacks commit violent crimes against Asians is completely wtf.

 

Not sure how accurate it is but according to this blog on the Chronicle, Asians were voting Republican as recently has 2000.

Its obvious, the republicans don't cater towards minorities, and we've gotten to the point where even the majority (whites) see a problem with discrimination and aren't willing to take part in it.

Incredible. So in a general sense, Asian were 1:1 swing voters in 2000 and went 3:1 for Obama yesterday. That should scare the living daylights out of Republican leaders. It should also scare some sense into them.

For the record, I voted for Bush in 2000 but now consider the national GOP to be trash. Did not vote for either guy yesterday.

 

Bush also got something like 40-42% of the Latino vote in 2000, no? The GOP seems to have gotten whiter over the last decade or so.

Most college-educated Asians will vote democratic because many of these same Asians are engineers, doctors, lawyers, film makers, artists etc. There's no way to to become great in these professions, except to work hard and excel at your craft. Now t

This isn't to say that there aren't intelligent Asian republicans; it's just that these Asians have let it all go and have more often than not chosen the dark sided. Why? To be modern day conservative and intelligent requires a degree of "evilness" from within. It requires one to be diabolical. These are often the ones that didn't quite make it through school, but found they could succeed by cheating or copying homework from their peers. These are the same ones that seek to justify their status in society through a fabricated "superiority complex" i.e. I'm ____ nationality, therefore I'm better and I deserve this privileged status and don't need to live by the rules.

Another core bloc of the conservative Asians are the evangelical Christians. They've applied their book learning instead to religion, and frequently believe in a literal interpretation of the Bible. Yes this means they're against evolution, science, homosexuality, and even, yes, knowledge. More often than not, they come off as kooky, Westboro Baptist Church worshipping lunatics from the fringe right will take up the mantle of idiocy from the neo-cons. Should there be any surprise that Asians, especially those in the Asian continent, have had strong skepticism of religion as a word of "truth"?

The rest? Well these are the Asians that work hard, study, are highly educated. They're most likely voting democratic for a long time to come.
