Looks like Dems will hold North Dakota in an upset. Hopefully Montana. And Nevada is unexpectedly in play. Could be a net +3 for the Dems in a year that they should have struggled to break even, given that this was the followup to the Dem wave election of 2006.
West goes down. Bachmann is now behind by 200 votes with 78% reporting. That would be HUGE for a Presidential primary candidate to lose a safe GOP district.
Dems did work in the Senate tonight. I'm a little disappointed it didn't play out at the House level, but I will take it.
Agreed. This could be the best thing to happen to the GOP and for the country as well. A clear rejection of the no-compromise tea party philosophy would be an opportunity to bring some sanity to the GOP leadership and let Congress get stuff done.
Bachmann back in the lead. This night would be perfect if America could finally be rid of her. The president's landslide win plus these two getting kicked out of Washington should send a strong message to the Republican party that right wing extremism won't fly anymore.
Allen West... Good riddance to bad rubbish. Joe Walsh was a total tool. I didn't expect him to go, but I'm happy he did.
Anyone want to take a $20 tip jar bet that Ted Cruz doesn't make it 6 years? I'm betting that he will resign due to something said or done. The man is as slimy as it gets and I just get this feeling that he will not finish his term.
Love this! Record Number Of Women Will Serve In Congress Voters Tuesday elected a record number of women to Congress, thanks largely to gains on the Democratic side of the aisle. In the Senate, where every incumbent Democrat won re-election, there will be a record 20 women Senators come January — a net gain of three. Women will also set a new record in the House of Representatives with 78 women elected — a number that could rise as a final handful of races are called.
Add to that, this was the 5th time in the last 6 presidential elections that Democrats won the popular vote.
