Everyone on FOX looking like they just found a pube in their ice cream. Loving every minute of it.

Let's hope the obstructionists got the message, and that the people take precedence over parties this time around.

Perhaps not, at least not anymore.

You may be right. Eventually it will cripple this country. At the rate we are going, compiling trillion + deficits annually, the interest on the debt will overtake revenue. We will all need to learn Mandarin then.

Seriously, BOTH sides need to work to cut the deficit.

This is what I like to hear. Will it happen? Probably not. Last night, Ted Cruz was speaking about how he would basically fight the President instead of moving Texas in the right direction.

I think some of this has to do with the Republican following. This is how they appease them. We can make progress once Republicans realize that we (GOVT) all work for the same team.

yep, I was disappointed to hear that. I'm a conservative on most issues, and she's a nutjob. Wish she wasn't in office.

The US budget is not like a personal budget, there are no bill collectors that can harrass 11 aircraft carrier groups.

Every show needs a clown, Bachman will be a impotent clown.

I cannot believe your naivety. When the U.S. stops paying the interest of its growing debts, will the Chinese keep loaning us money? Will anyone? Our currency will be worthless and inflation will be staggering. Study German history between the two world wars.

    um, no.

Also, people need to seriously stop running projections based on the current set up. Those deficits were made in the wake of the largest private market failure in history, and unless you build in an assumption that every ten years Wall Street will f**k up as badly, there's no way that with growth instead of stagnation that happens.

Absolutely right. It turns a multicolored landscape into a black and white doodle. And politics into an 'us vs them' sporting event where parties take precedence over issues, and people are forced to choose the lesser of two evils.
"The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge natural to party dissention, which in different ages & countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism." G. Washington and other founding fathers warned against the 2 party system.

p.s. .. We win again u Cons! Your party is whack! Wooohooo! 2-0! Shutout!
    Signed,

In the interest of those citizens that want progress on important issues, we need an equivalent of the Grover Norquist pledge (which is complete acidic and asinine poison to the political process, by the way.)

    How about:
If elected to a branch of the federal government, I pledge to put the good of our country far above the good of my party. I will honor the needs and wishes of my constituents, and the needs of the American people, before I honor the needs and wishes of my political party.

Can we all agree on something like that? I know it's vague, but we should keep track of all these ugly party-line votes and reward people who break ranks on centrist and sensible issues (like the last jobs act, or a veterans bill, etc.)

If I cared anymore, I could go along with that, especially if you added "and my campaign contributors."

I'm just skimming through the posts from last night and saw this gem.

While I would like to just laugh this off as sour grapes stuff like this does disturb me.

I find it disturbing too. People in powerful places need to realize that 24-hour propaganda has consequences, and hopefully realize it before something tragic happens.

good point. and by the way thumbs, I disagree with anyone who says you are "not America" or whatever. Clearly you are, even though we don't always see eye to eye on things. Peace, and please care again after the dust settles.

Wall Street is always about playing the greater fool. Don't discount a future derivative melt down. But the new 'gas' paradigm bodes well for the rest of this decade I think.

When the world starts replacing chinese sweat shop labor with robots, there may be a Chinese meltdown that could have world wide implications.

I am surprised that the Bachmann race was even that close. The 6th CD in MN is very conservative and got more so thanks to redistricting.

This goes against the interest of every elected officials, it will never happen, even if they decide to say the pledge, it will just be lip service.

Conservatism is not lunacy. She is a looney.

Are there really that many lunatics there?

We need Bachman so people don't forget what the opposition is.
She's harmless and the teabags have lost their momentum.

Think Ted Cruz is going to get any good committes?
