Someone explain to me like I'm a 5 year old how they can already call Ohio with less than 30,000 votes difference out of over 4 million votes counted and 27% still to go???
They can look at where the outstanding votes are and see that they will favor Obama, making it impossible for Romney to catch up.

So am I... maybe two! President Obama appoints not only Supreme Court vacancies, but other lifetime Federal judicial vacancies. He sets foreign policy for the next 4 years. We will leave Afghanistan. We will continue our tilt towards the Pacific Region. We will continue supporting clean energy and other new technologies. Scientific research will continue to be supported, not slashed. The push for equality for women and the Gay community will continue. The richest Americans will pay their fair share of taxes. A hell of a lot of excellent things will continue. Thank you, America.
When there's mostly Democratic counties left to be counted and Obama is already winning, it's over. They know the way each county has to go given it's makeup for a candidate to win. If a candidate exceeds those marks then it's easy to project how others will end up. This is what happened when Wisconsin was called even while Obama was losing. He was losing counties he should have lost, but not by the margins that Romney would need to claim victory in the state as a whole.
