Hey guiz. I'm an affluent 1%er business owner living in a nice and booming neighborhood with great schools and low crime rate. I'm also a sensible, intelligent and compassionate person who strongly lean Demoncrat on social issues and who doesn't mind contributing my fair share towards a stable society with opportunities for all. I just feel like no matter what happens today, I cannot lose. It's like rooting for one team but betting on the other team. It's great to be me. Just thought I'd share something positive in this sea of negativity.
If the economy craters we will all lose, and big. You apparently have not been through many natural disasters or wars. I have; things can change quickly. Hyper inflation and devaluation of currency will put you out of business and turn you into a 99percenter.
Speaking of the 1% Wall Street Republicans Downbeat On Election Day CNBC's John Carney, in an admittedly "far from a scientific survey of opinion on Wall Street" that may oversample "pessimists," wrote Tuesday that GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney's fans on Wall Street are having something of an emo Election Day as they become "increasingly convinced that Barack Obama will win the election."
Awesome. I feel the same way OP. As Mark Cuban said, when an entrepreneur goes out to invent something or start a new business, they never check to see what the tax rates are before doing so. Ballers ball regardless of who is in office.
Awww are you mad at people who work hard and make a little bit of money? While your're smoking dope and eating at bucc-ees I'm working on my business. Don't call me the douchebag.
Assuming you aren't talking about environmental collapse that is indeed worrying and that market fundie thinking just makes worse.... Cheer up. Once you stop drinking the libertarian kool-aid of the small sect with all the answers, life goes on and can be good despite the world being a bit more complicated for you. Try reading some of the biographies of the ex-Leninists after their communist God failed or perhaps Moonies or Scientologists after leaving their cults. Perhaps there is even a book entitled something like "Up from Libertarianism" or some such.
I appreciate the advice. It is true: I should chill out a bit more when it comes to this stuff. I will make it a note to read more Mencken. He always seemed to enjoy the show:
