It was a conflict for Harden but one that Presti could have helped him decide. Harden had the option of shining in another team, or staying and helping his current team.

It made sense that he asked for a trade kicker if he were to stay at a discounted price, and I'm surprised Presti tossed him off so quickly after failing the negotiation.

Presti messed up, really really bad.

People talk about Morey's "asset treatment" crap all the time and how no star would want to play in Houston because of how Morey treats his players (a myth concocted by a certain banned poster). But Morey never threw an all-star caliber player away the way Presti did.

I think we might have another near all-star on the roster currently. Lets see what one of PPAT, D-MO, or Jones can bring to the table (White is a big questionmark). The grass isn't always greener elsewhere, we have some promising guys on the bench and need to see what they offer.

I think Harden-Lin-Asik has the ability to be very good with Parsons as the glue guy/Battier type. The real upgrade that could make all the difference is at the Power Forward position--so lets try out who we have first, and if it doesn't look good, upgrade there. we could also bring on a strong 6th man type ala OKC with Harden; but again I think management will look at what we have internally before jumping over some big trade or asset.

Seems like most players don't like being in Houston for whatever reason.

What? Morey let Dragic walk for nothing and Amnestied Scola. Morey has no conscience letting players go.

Also, we're starting this season way under the cap. This is not a roster of a playoff contender. Usually only bottom 4 teams has this kind of cap space and why most power rankings had us way in the bottom.

He could already be surrounded by "better" players. We still do not know how this rookie class is going to turn out.

I don't have any good expectations of them. If I could trade all of our rookies plus Patterson and Parsons for Kevin Love or Aldridge I'd do it instantly. Problem is neither Minnesota nor Portland does that trade.

Rockets fans have been virtually promised another meaningful trade before the deadline.

Even if Terrence Jones develops, he is not what we need anyways. We need a power forward who can score in the post since Asik is so useless there. Terrence Jones is not that guy since he is not a good shooter. I don't think personally that he can become a reliable shooter. Patterson is mediocre, Parsons is a defensive role player at best.

Where are you getting that from? When Harden was traded, people were saying he must be glad he is going to HTown and leaving small town USA.

Not only do NBA players like coming to Houston, they like retiring in Houston, too. No state taxes, pleasant weather, huge selection of restaurants and clubs.

We got a ton of former ballers in H-Town.

this is really not a surprise to anyone, Harden is too good to be a third banana on a team with a dysfunctional point guard. Im just glad he's here being the man

nice one my son...besides...true superstars don't need better players...these players imo are good enough ... just give them some time, create chemistry and team spirit and rockets are in for great things...chemistry and time spent playing together are more important than individual quality....and 1st 3 games showed that these guy have enough talent, enthusiasm and passion....

Human nature, man. He was really tight with durant and westbrook - I think it was Lebron who said he didn't realise how tight they were.

It's like a break-up, but he'll get over it. He'll come to love Houston more.

That's perfectly normal. Harden will be the alpha dog here and let's count on Morey to land us a legit low post scorer... As much as I love Asik's defensive presence, he's shooting 35% and that's not gonna cut it.

A little off-topic but, are you referring to DaDakota? How long is he banned for? I know he wasnt liked by many here, but I always enjoyed his videos. We may not agreed with his opinions, but he sure was a true dedicated rockets fan.

    Anyways, carry on....

Presti saw The Howard situation only drop his trade value and Deron Williams being traded before he knew for a nice collection of assets.

This no doubt made Presti make sure he could render maximum return for Harden before teams started preparing to just go after him in free agency instead of via trade.

It doesn't matter. He turned out to be the winner anyway.

I'm pretty sure Harden was worth a lot more than what we gave them.

Expiring player, unproven late lottery pick player, 1 raptors first round guaranteed lottery pick with questionable value, a Mavs pick that also has questionable value and at best becomes valuable in 2018 and lastly a second round pick that are easily purchasable these days.

OKC did not get anything out of this trade that gives them a proven long-term commodity. The closest thing that have is K-Mart, but he is going to cost quite a bit to keep after this season.
