I hate flat bill hats I think they look terrible. Apparently you can no longer get fitted hats with a curve. All they have are the stretch elastic backed ones.
I feel like an idiot when I put on a flat bill in Lids. I don't really wear hats anymore, but if I did it would be a curved bill.
Flat bills are a simple fad that can't go away soon enough, like skinny jeans. People have been bending the brim for over 100 years now. I went to scoop up the new Astros hat at academy, and all they had were those overpriced 59 fiftys with the perpetually flat brim. I wanted a simple 15 dollar ballcap thats already slightly bent. I'm 26, i bend the brim of my hat, tie my shoes, and wear pants that give me full range of motion and astoundingly that makes me the weird one.
I think my issue with the hats is not so much the flat brim itself, but the fact that they don't make a fitted curve anymore. If someone wants a flat that is their choice, but some of us want nice curved hats without elastic or plastic straps on the back. The 47 brand hats that are offered now won't cut it. The elastic initially is too tight and is uncomfortable. Then after you get it fitted right to your head, you might as well get ready to throw it away, because the elastic will be stretched out of shape so bad that it won't hold the hat on your head.
What are yall a bunch of girls? "Does the way I wear my hat make me look fat???" Be a man and wear your hat whichever way you like, flat bill or curved. Who gives a F
Certain hats are designed to be curved or flat. This thread is about how hard it is to get true fitted hats (not the XS,S,M,L,XL fitted) with a curved bill.
My head looks stupid with a curved hat on. I never wore hats until the flat bill came out. Just so happened to be the thing that rappers chose to wear at the time as well.
Are they truly fitted or are they the ones with elastic to stretch to fit your head? The size chart on Astros.com shows them sized as S,M,L etc. If so those are not truly fitted they have a strip of elastic that stretches to your head size. Fitted sizes are actual numbers like 6.5 7.25 etc. Unless you are just classifying them as fitted because they don't have an adjustable strap on the back. I don't like the elastic ones. They don't always fit right and the elastic wears out easily sometimes. I also have a large melon head and some of them are not comfortable. I know that I can order a size 8 and it will fit pretty much perfectly, unfortunately the only hats you can order by size number are the flat bills.
I usually do, but I don't know why. One time I took it off after a couple of years, and now it is an ugly circle on my bill.
I would bet the shop at MMP has what you want. They sold hats at the event and my kid got one of the 47 brand hats (non-fitted). It was $15 (which might have been event-only pricing; not sure).
It takes some work but I'm able to get my New Era 59Fifty hats to retain a curved bill. I'll take a picture when I get home from work. Arent the 59Fifty hats the official on field team hats?
