Great post. Agree with this, for the most part the offensive should start with Lin. Yes sometimes it's fine if Harden or Parsons brings the ball up, but most of the time it should be Lin as you said to try for a easy play if possible, if not then give to Harden to try or to score.

I like this post. It's unfortunate that it was already posted elsewhere before, but I didn't see it and am glad to find it here.

Let's not all get too excited and call each other out. I guess it's the hangover from last night's loss.

Harden seems like a nice and humble enough team player. I hope the hype doesn't get to his head. If it does, I blame it on the Rockets management for generating all the hype. The Rockets management tried generating a lot of hype for Lin after he signed, but Lin remained grounded and was reluctant to be called the face of the franchise knowing he's not there yet. Then the Rockets signed Harden, Harden had two incredible games and the Rockets are promoting him like there's no tomorrow. I feel sorry for Harden for the pressure he must be feeling and he probably wants to prove himself. It's a long season and he has plenty of time to do that and shouldn't rush to do it. Don't burn the kid out.

I know what you're saying. I wouldn't call it the "point guard," I would call it fast transition. I think what Coach is doing is not something he would have done with Martin, at all. But with Lin and Harden he knows he can really push the ball. First option is run; next options include a PnR if a big is ready, and if the PnR is ready then whoever has the ball (Lin or Harden) will do it.

And yes, Harden will run the four flat play. Lin's good at it, too.

I'm just not seeing selfishness or any similarities to Francis / Mobley.

Everything you say here is technically correct. My only comment is to emphasize the plurality of your statement "utilize the strength of his players." Players, plural. You are only focusing on Lin and Harden. They are not our problem and never will be.

They are both playmakers like Parker and Ginobody and to pigeon-hole either into something else is not going to happen. It isn't.

Yes, Lin will need to learn to play with someone like Harden (the reverse isn't true as Harden went to the Finals with Westbrook), but it's more about the rest of the team. If I'm Coach, I'm concerned more about the other 3 fitting in.

If things break down, then I think currently Coach has told the team to get the ball to Harden.

    make sense?

Then watch closer. Or record the games and re-watch.

What I'm getting from the OP is that Lin can probably involve the three other players better than Harden, at least this is what I'm seeing right now. Harden is looking for his shots a lot more. So you give the ball to Lin to try to create for the other three and Harden, if nothing works, then give to Harden to try or to score.
