Correlation <> Causation. Useful thing to know. Nothing in Obamacare changed anything about your current health insurance - the vast majority of its provisions and requirements don't go into effect until 2014. You just have a crappy insurance company or you changed your plan.
No they were not going down. They had actually stayed the same for the three years after a modest increase the year before. Our company has not released the details for next years plans yet. They have given snippets but it does not look good. They are really late this year as we usually have the info by mid October for open enrollment at the start of November. They haven't even given us a date for open enrollment yet. I am really scared. I can only assume they were hoping the Supreme Court would actually follow the Constitution and overturn the monstrosity that is Obamacare. Now they are scrambling to put something together.
So even in your case you were already seeing an increase in health care costs, in general health care costs were already rising far faster than inflation without Obamacare and there were no indications that that was going to change. The one things I don't see any mention though in your screed is regarding what to do about uninsured people. Your argument is basically the classic "I only care about my situation." So while perhaps things were good for you they were not good for many many others and the status quo wasn't addressing that. For that matter the status quo of increasing amounts of uninsured with spiraling health care costs would end up costing you as the uninsured who end up using emergency care still has to be paid for. As far as your company not releasing the details for next year's plans if they did so because they though the USSC would strike down Obamacare frankly your bosses are idiots. Smart businesses would anticipate the possibility that the law would be upheld, along with it not, and be prepared for either. Also as hoping the USSC would follow the Constitution incase you missed Article II and III the Constitution does give the federal government tax powers and also empowers the USSC to rule on these laws. You might not like it but Roberts' decisions is Constitutional.
The people who wrote the constitution already mandated healthcare nationally when they were running the nation.
You know I could take the time to break this down paragraph by paragraph but I really don't have the time. Lets just say my views for uninsured people is that we already have Medicaid and anyone can go to the hospital and not have to pay. I personally would like to see the economy grow to the point where uninsured people can get jobs that provide them with insurance. As for the SC decision, where does the word tax appear in the bill?
Franchise, you know for the first time I could possibly see myself agreeing about this except for the fact that I realize that is why Obamacare was created in the first place. To raise the price for middle class working people so we want single payer too.
Answer some simple questions about your plan: 1. What is your annual deductible? 2. What is your Co Pay %? 3. What is your maximum annual out of pocket expense?
BornTexan made a thread a couple months back about this. Everyone in my family and close circle of friends has had their wealth, income, and investments substantially increase since fall '08. The Obama administration was partly responsible for this, and that's who we voted for this time. Sorry to hear that, but I think you're blaming the wrong party. I recommend you read the Kaiser Family website to grasp what's driving costs, from a well reputable source.
I don't think that's the reason for Obamacare. Obama wanted something like single payer early on as well. What was finally passed was something that supposed conservatives could get behind instead of what Obama and those left of center really wanted. They didn't want to trick people into supporting a single payer system, they thought it would work the best. Because it's been more efficient and cost effective in places where something like it has already been tried.
Ridiculously better off than Nov 2008. My entire universe was collapsing then. My family and I fled NYC like rats from a sinking ship. (Too bad we fled to Hoboken, but that's another story) Now if you compare my current pay to what I was getting in 05-07, not as awesome, but lets face it, those days are over. The beautiful thing about America is the ability to reinvent yourself.
I'd give his bosses a break as that's probably a load of crap. They have multiple vendors they can choose from and/or a strong enough relationship that they're either pro-actively negotiating or have a good enough idea of what their healthcare costs are upfront. It's back office HR crap people want to get over and done with as soon and cheaply as possible. Nothing wrong with holding strong political views but earnestly trying to reconcile them with the hardships and successes in your own life is just childish.
I make $50k more than 2008, but it has nothing to do with Obama. I don't look to the government for blame. If CML is making the same money as 4 years ago, that's not Obama's fault.
Not always. When the stimulus money went to the states, there were plenty of teachers including my wife, and other friends who had been laid off but were rehired as a direct result. When the housing market crash and people were being foreclosed on, state budgets went to hell because that was property taxes that won't be gathered. That hurt state workers. So those hardships will be directly felt by some workers.
Don't blame Obamacare because your deductible is so freaking high. This statement is also contrary to reality. So, a few years ago your yearly deductible was $200? yeah right...
You know, arguing with libtards is a waste of time. You can believe me or not. I do not really care. The OP asked who was better of than you were four years ago. I am not.
