Not trying to hate on Melo for no reason, because I think he's a fantastic scorer, but I followed the Knicks all season last year, and this issue drove me nuts. I begged for a trade that would split those two up way before anyone thought it could actually happened. Harden's not just talking about scoring there since that part is obvious. Harden's most impressive asset to me is his passing and assists. Something Carmelo never really got, imo. Obviously it's entirely possible to score 37, 45 and STILL pass the ball, be the star and not stall the offense. The Beard is all around A+. A complete player, not just a complete scorer. I couldn't be more happy with this combination. And I love the fact he looks for those lobs back outside when he's inside the paint when he gets clogged down or feels he doesn't have the best shot. He never forces it which is why his shots always look effortless. Definitely not an ISO player, and when you have Lin as PG, this is anything but a negative. Both games the ball moved around very well and Parsons, Delfino, Smith Morris....heck even Asik, managed double digits in one of the past two games. Seeing the ball find the hot hand, every other night, is a beautiful sight. Even though the Knick's 2 PG's did really well and got their guys in double digits tonight, I was flipping back and forth between the two games tonight, and it was easy to notice the difference between the two offenses. That one still slowed down. Rockets flowed continuously from opening to close. Even when the Hawks stepped up on defense, the ball still moved around. Look forward to 3-0!
this is the key that why Harden is so efficient . how can you not love his play? no doubt he'll be competing for MVP in the near future
I really think Miami gave that game to the Knicks, to give the city a boost. They seemed like they weren't even trying to play defense.
They're close to the same age, neither guy has a superiority complex, Harden was brought up in more of a team environment where he learned to pass the ball and defer to other players. Melo has never played on a team at any stage of his life where he was anything other than a volume scorer. Harden makes players around him better, Melo doesn't.
A poster on the Yahoo forum wrote this. Both Lin and Harden are good pick-n-roll players. Harden favors going to his left while Lin favors his right. Both are fearless in going to the rim, and both are fast in transition offense. Last season, McHale loved playing both Lowry and Dragic together in his "attack" offense. Now he doesn't have to play two PGs. Harden is a scoring PG in an SG's body. Who could have known that Harden would drop into our laps and that both instantly mesh together. More and more, Harden's style reminds of me of the 2006 Wade in MIA's title run. Harden is just unstoppable going to the lane. c'mon, bench, get your act together. The only thing holding us back and we don't want to burn Harden out. Still reports say he's just playing 6min more than his avg in OKC last year
LBJ and Wade were discussing Harden's statline right after their game. LMAO, if they were really serious during the game they wouldn't be talking about another player after they just got spanked by 20. Miami gave it up, one of the big 3 probably started playing like a clown and the rest of the team followed suit just to give the city a break. Nice gesture from the 3 Kings IMHO, esp. sicne they're keeping it on the down-low and letting ESPN and the NYC Media celebrate. Watch them meet again a couple of months later and decimate this team LOL.
Man, I can't wait until the Knicks come to Houston. 713 backcourt will destroy Felton/old man Jason Kidd.
