True story: I got away with using the hotspot for 2 years before they cut me off 3 days ago. It was nice while it lasted.

lol My apologies. It was a typo. No SD card slot. For me no SD card slot really doesn't make it a deal breaker because I use cloud services a lot. For music, I use Google Music. The only time I ever need music on offline mode is when I'm taking a flight and need to listen to music. Yeah but I saw different from other places. I still don't know why I wrote horrible. It's just the high intensity uses where it's been quickly drained. Nexus 10 had mixed reviews for their battery too which is kind of odd. Ignore what I said, I think it lasting a whole day on normal every-day use is perfectly fine.
IMF and others, please educate me on why not having an SD card slot is so important. I also use Google Music but my stash of songs is only about 3GB and I don't play many games. What other apps use up large amounts of memory? Seems like 8 GB internal memory should be fine for most people.
whew, thats a relief. planning to get someone whos visiting NYC to get me 2 Nex 7s (16gb and 32gb) and the Nex 4. get them to bring over on the flight home to Malaysia. passing on the Nex 10. hopefully I wont be regretting it.
The lack of LTE is a concern. The lack of microSD card is a minor concern, as there is the rare occasion when you need to use the card to transfer data or a file. EG I recently changed ROMs on my rooted Thunderbolt and accidentally left the zipped radio on the SD, creating a boot loop. The only way I was able to overcome the boot loop was to take the microSD out, read the card on a card reader on my laptop, delete the old radio and transfer the new radio to the phone. Admittedly a rare occasion but it was a lifesaver. Btw, using an ICS ROM on my Tbolt, waiting on HTC and Verizon to release their long overdue official ICS for the device. Custom ROM developers FTW.
Well, some people like have Movies, Books, TV shows, and their Music right on their phone without having to stream it all from a cloud. I don't think A LOT of apps take much space. On my Galaxy Nexus for example, I have 160 apps and it takes up about 2.3 GBs of space, albeit I don't have very many games. Most everyday apps aren't going to take up much space, it's mainly the games and other high-intense graphic apps that usually do. Seems like for you, 8 GB would be perfect. Personally, for me, no micro SD slot is just fine. I haven't had any issues with not having a micro SD card slot for my Galaxy Nexus, and whenever I want to get anything on my phone, I use Google Drive. It really just comes down to if you're more of a cloud user, of if you want your stuff directly on your phone. I'm most likely going to go with the 16GB just for having some extra space for Movies, though I don't really watch many movies on my phone. But since it's only $50 more, I don't mind getting 16.
bump for this question and add galveston to the list. been spoiled w/lte on my vzw gnex and hate that i'm considering this phone w/o lte.
My experience in Houston inner loop area with Tmobil HSPA+ has been just fine. Then again, I am not constantly trying to stream video and music. I use my phone mainly for browsing, and it is usually plenty fast for that purpose.
No one has asked but if you're in Austin wondering if HSPA+ is any good, it's actually pretty legit. I get about 3-10 mbps daily on my GSM Gnex
It's great around the med center and ok around the Reliant stadium. it works fine for streaming radio and Spotify.
I used to be on t-mobile right before they got HSPA+ but i remember when texan games were going on, data on t-mobile basically just came to a screeching halt. Is that still the case?
What's disappointing is that LTE phones have better battery life than this phone.. that's pretty sad.
how is the iphone 5 at the top and neither razr maxx or maxx hd on that list? (well... not really confused.).
The phones tested didn't have the final version of 4.2 on there so that might be something causing the average battery life. It still has better battery life than the current nexus but I'm hoping once a production unit gets reviewed the battery life will be better (crosses fingers)
