Clearly NO MISTAKES AT ALL in any scene, great castng and superb acting. A rollercoaster of emotions, mixed with a surprise ending in a tough situation. A+.
If, by 'no mistakes', you mean filming mistakes, that could very well be correct. If, by 'no mistakes', you mean historical mistakes, that would be incorrect.
That's pretty much exactly how I feel of him as an Actor. He also almost always has a good supporting cast around as well. I really like him as a writer/director though. Good Will Hunting, Gone Baby Gone and The Town were all super good and Now Argo seems like it will be right up there. I'm looking forward to watching it. I still think The Town is some of his best work as an actor, writer and director. Such an awesome movie I never get sick of it.
Affleck did an amazing job of building up the suspense at the end of the film. His true calling is as a director.
I thought The Town was certainly entertaining, but had some holes. There's no helicopters in South Boston, for example? But if you got past the unbelievable-ness of some of it, a solid movie. I actually think Affleck is a solid actor. Not great, and he's picked some bad roles, but solid. I'd like to see Argo, but probably won't till it comes out on DVD.
He was always affable and charismatic enough to be a good talk show guest and basically had good representation and high profile relationship when Hollywood, cable, the internet and the media were just learning how to synergize and mass produce blockbusters. But too many others with similar opportunities, including Damon, Pitt and Clooney, maintained their status while doing great work.
So, are people liking this film? A couple of friends saw it and said it seemed too much like an anti-Iran propaganda movie.
Considering it is based on actual events if it is seen as anti-Iran, perhaps they shouldn't have kidnapped 52 Americans. That being the case, perhaps the Iranian government should have done more to get them released rather than have it drag on for 444 days.
Very very good movie. I think all Americans should see it as it very much speaks to current events. After you see it, go look up the actual history as the events do differ a bit but Aflac did a great job capturing the essence while adding the right amount of flair to keep the story moving on the big screen. If you think the story is anti-Iran, then perhaps you should watch Disney"s Aladdin for an easier story to swallow. History is history. Fact remains that they initiated aggressive behavior by taking dozens of American citizens hostage and tortured them for over a year. That said, they were outraged by US policy and speaks volumes about why US policy should be very careful about unintended consequences. Awesome movie. Watch.
Bump. Finally saw it last night. Despite the historical inaccuracies, it was a pretty intense flick. Well worth the two hours and $22. Probably one of the better movies of the year, and will get some Oscar nominations for sure.
Finally saw it. I didn't think it was AMAZING like a lot of other people, but definitely a very good movie. Just moved a tad bit too slow for me. 8/10
It was good and will hold up on repeated viewings (especially the "slow" stuff as you already know it gets really fast paced/suspenseful at the end). Affleck is a good director. After his last several movies, I don't see how you can deny him that. Being director may also allow him to get the most out of his own acting.
Well, I saw it today. I thought it was a very good movie. I'm old enough that I lived through that period and remember it well. It did bring back a lot of memories from that time. The only part I didn't like was that they: Spoiler had the army chasing down the plane on the runway. That was a little much.
It was a pretty good movie. Acting was great, Ben Affleck definitely did a great job. I can see why it's an Oscar nominated film.
