You order it online. It was somewhat confusing for me because I wanted to keep my own number. But they have a process that is pretty easy to follow.

When you order your SIM they send you a package with instructions. Somehow I messed up and got a new # instead of rolling over my ATT #, but I just called them and fixed it.

Here is a glowing review from 9to5. http://9to5google.com/2012/11/02/review-lg-nexus-4-a-world-class-smartphone-for-300/

I'm on a tight budget but this phone at $299.00 unlocked + T-Mobile's $30.00/month unlimited data plan are made for each other.

I hope LG steps up and becomes a major Android player. The market needs someone to give Samsung a run for their money.

I'm sure the Galaxy S4 will blow the doors off the hinges but the unlocked price of the Nexus 4 is compelling.

I'll hold off a bit on the N4 until they get some decent cases to show off the back but not covering it up. It just looks like Crack City written all over it. I already have the galaxy nexus as my work phone but willing to take on the 30 dollar pre-paid plan to have this phone since I don't pay for my work phone bill. I'll just convert my galaxy nexus into a hotspot for my car or something.

If i don't like it...sell it for a small loss and go back to the GN and cancel the 30 dollar plan. Feels good to be off contract. =).

    Two dumb questions for you:

    1. Can I use Google Voice to avoid using minutes and have my talk time count as data? As you probably know, the Nexus 4 doesn't have wifi.

    2. Will "jail-breaking" the Nexus 4 allow me to avoid T-Mobile's $15.00/month tethering charge?

    He probably meant wi-fi calling.

As for his question, you can install an app such as groove ip, talkatone or go through a process to get a SIP account where it will use your data instead of minutes but it'll force you to use the google voice number instead of the number of the phone.

Groove IP for me is probably the easiest solution. With the last update it's greatly improved with minimal delay and choppiness to what it was before the update. Works great for me on my current GN but usually when i'm in good data coverage. VZW's 3g is utter crap and that's when i switch to mobile minutes.

also the hotspot feature in the phone should already be available to use since the phone is untouched by any of the carriers.

Read all around the internet for both devices. Saw mixed reviews, some really liked it and some really came down on it's flaws. Biggest knock besides no LTE and no SIM I saw for the Nexus 4 was the battery life. Looks like it has horrible battery life which really sucks considering it has a 2100 mah battery.

As for the Nexus 10, It seems like it got solid reviews overall.

Correct that I meant wifi calling.

I'm trying to avoid the $15.00/month extra charge on T-Mobile for the hotspot feature. Any way to do that?

I would just get the unlocked version, no-contract version. You're better off with it since there is no restrictions on that.

The other benefit you get with unlocked is not having to wait extra days for an update since updates still have to go through carriers. Not sure how good T-Mobile is on that, but with the unlocked one you wouldn't have to worry about it.

The feature won't be removed, but you certainly won't be home free. They have sent me a few warnings about using the Hotspot feature without paying for it. I don't know if they enforce it though.

That's gotta be a typo; pretty sure he meant no SD card slot.

I have grandfathered VZW unlimited data and a corporate discount so looks like I'm going to have to skip this one.
