BOYCOTT INDEED! While I understand that some Comcast customers might find humor in the fact that a majority of Rockets fans cannot watch their team, save some annoying poor quality website with frequent pop-ups, I hope fans don't open their wallets to purchase ANY tickets to home games. I'm a prior season ticket holder that was considering purchasing a half season package this year. Not now. Not at all. Not sure who is to blame for the inability to negotiate carriage rights, but I do know who suffers: the fans who simply want to watch their team. Given the possibility that this could be a topsy-turvy season, it doesn't make sense to alienate the very fans you need around to help pay some of that $80 million to Harden, not to mention the money needed to land another quality player. I understand fans won't boycott the Rockets, and for this reason it's obvious that this stalemate will undoubtedly linger like a bad fart, but it sure would be nice to see the Rockets to take the high road -- to the extent they can influence this deal in any manner -- and get Red Nation back on the air. Hell, Portland fans have been waiting 6 years for the Blazers TV deal to get worked out...seems like the new Rose Garden still sells out just fine. In the end, the fans get screwed, the teams and stations make millions, and we only get to read about it all in the paper in the morning (or online). Yippee. Should be a grat season to READ about.
That's because you're both douches. Also, I imagine this is a lot more on Comcast than it is the Rockets organization right now.
I live in Australia, the only way to watch basketball is on fuzzy streams or League Pass...as a basketball junkie addicted to the Rockets, I caved in and purchased the League pass. Need my fix man. We have cable TV in Australia but they only show 2-4 random games per week...maybe 1 Rockets game a year. I don't have television in my house and wasn't going to pay $120 per month for 16 random games and repeated garbage.
This is funny because Linsanity was a catalyst for Time Warner and MSG (company that owns the Knicks) to break their standoff and come to a price agreement to show Knicks games on cable TV. Maybe something similar will happen here in Houston? Anyways, your best bet is to call your mayor and governor and tell them that you want to watch Rockets game on cable. Mayor Bloomberg told TW and MSG to get something done or else I'll intervene because NYers wanted to watch Linsanity.
It ABSOLUTELY is the Rockets fault. They made the deal knowing over 60% of their fan base and 100% of true sports bars wouldn't be able to watch. The ROCKETS and ASTROS signed off on this deal with comcast without deals in place with other providers. Comcast is the ones who just took the money, the ROCKETS and ASTROS are the ones who sold out their fan base. Plain and simple
The Rockets ticket sales office had the nerve to call me to buy tickets, I politely told them that I refuse to buy tickets or merchandise until this caos is resolved. I am pissed!

The Rose Garden does still sell out, but don't forget that is all they have in Portland is the Blazers, heck the Rockets already don't sell out and now they have blocked out over 60% of their fan base. I've been a fan my whole life. Listened to Gene broadcast dang near every game in the early 80's, believe it was 82 that Allen Leavell "led" the Rox to 14 wins, but I caught dang near every game on the radio that year since where I was growing up we didn't have them on TV. I camped out on the street overnight trying to get tickets to Rockets Knicks in the finals, made it to about 20 yards from the ticket booth the next morning when it sold out. The stories go on and on and on. And I haven't just supported the team from myself. I've taken groups of high school kids to games through the years, of course they didn't just buy the tickets and the concessions, many of them became fans after those games. That certainly won't happen now, the Rockets organization better wake up
Well, I quit buying rockets merch. a few years ago because I have so much of it, and I haven't been to a rockets game for a couple of years, so I hope that helps your cause...but I have comcast and I DVR the games...but good luck, Bro. This situation just ain't fair.
If Harden can average 30/6/6 every night and we are 7-3 in the first 10 games, I think it will happen just like in NY.
I can't get Comcrap either cause they dont service my area but I am in the suburbs of Houston so League Pass would be blacked out. Whats your next suggestion??
I'm with you! I spend too much money at both twin peaks and hooters!!!! can't go there to watch every game! man those dirty blondes are tasty!! can't wait for this game, catching this one live! Who's going?
well last season Knicks solved their problem with MSG/Time-Warner by NY mayor... during Linsanity who is Houston Major?
There's always Phonoscope. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/UFk8bmWrD_c" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Seriously though, Rice has Phonoscope and it might be the worst service in history.
Rockets also need to beat a marquee team. Knicks were able to beat the Lakers during Linsanity and that convinced everyone that the team was legit. That's when the people were calling TW and MSG to get something done. If the Rockets can beat Miami on the 12th, then that might do it.
