Great news. Thank God, the procedure was a success. My cousin had a ventriculostomy and she is now in recovery, and just had a CT SCAN to continue to monitor the results and the progress. We've won a battle today, but I am certain we will win the war. Thank you all for your good thoughts and prayers, and some of you for your contributions I will pass along. Please continue to send them.
Oh wow that's horrible. Prayers and my sincerest best wishes. Posted this before I saw your last post Swoly, I'm so glad things are looking up!
Lord have mercy. I hate cancer, it has taken so many of my friends and relatives. I have been to MD Anderson so many times and every time I go the parking garage is full. I pray for a "real" cure. God, please hear our prayers.
Im so glad that she is ok now, I hope she stays that way, and can beat the cancer, I wish her the best, and I will pray for her speed recovery.
Fellow ClutchFaners: I come in need of your help, again. A BUMP... but... it makes me sad to say that my cousin's "bump" has been shown to have grown in the last couple months. Sadly, it has affected my cousin so much, you can tell it's physical now... she has difficulty coordinating her limb movements at times, and feels tired. We have gathered to hold another benefit Bar-B-Q, garage sale, silent auction, etc., again. EDIT: The plates will cost $6 and you can buy them at the event. Among the silent auction items there will be Texans gear, Cowboys gear, drawings, paintings, electronics, services like photography, hair stylings, cakes, etc. We are hosting this tomorrow with the help of volunteers which include dozens of family members and friends. The event will be held at Grace Baptist Church on Fulton, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. We have been distributing this via a flyer in Facebook and other social networks, and my relatives have all changed their profile pictures with the flyer that has the info. You can also make cash donations through me or at the event, or donations via PAYPAL if you prefer to an address I can provide. I will only be helping in the morning but I will be busy somewhere else the entire afternoon with a prior engagement. I hope you can help us also by coming to the event, telling your friends who live nearby, or sharing this. THANKS FOR READING.
g/l to her swoly. Please pass along paypal. If you somehow have a nonprofit org (501c3) that this is going towards (I doubt it), I could get my company to match my donation
what's the address of the church? i can't find it a Grace Baptist on fulton on google maps. nevermind, found it 7602 Fulton St, Houston. i'll be working on the northside in the morning and the church is on the way back home. i'll be there around 1 or 2.
You know what I look like, man. Find someone that looks sort of like me (will be one of my brothers), and let them know I sent you, if I don't happen to be there at that time just to stop by to help during one of my breaks. Thanks. We don't, but I think they're working to get one. (c) I will let you know. THANKS. email coming up.
She's in good hands at MD Anderson. I work in the Oncology field and MD Anderson is well respected for the care they deliver. I pray for the best for your cousin. Cancer sucks.
^^ HANDS DOWN: best service EVER. I wasn't even a patient there and I felt like I was at home. My uncle and aunt say that there is night and day comparison between that and the treatments they got in the Laredo hospital they thought would be good. No rival at all with MDA. I am so grateful for these folks. Hopefully they can help my cousin. Thank you, sir.
thoughts to your cousin and family. hope things get better. I realized the thread was old as I read along and figured it wasn't bumped for a good reason.
i hate stories like this Cancer really does suck.. really hoping some day we can find a cure and better treatment for cancer. Hope she hangs out there and beats this thing.
I'm a chemist and I actually have some experience with radiopharmaceutical design. The hard part is making the drug selective, to deliver it only to the cancer. There's just a lot of barriers to overcome: blood to tissue barrier, serum influence, enzyme degradation... and that's still without the difficulties of synthesis.
