I don't know why Mike Brown even dissing Steve Nash. What have Mike Brown done in his career compared to Nash. Steve Nash: 2× NBA Most Valuable Player: 2005, 2006 8× NBA All-Star: 2002–03, 2005–08, 2010, 2012 7× All-NBA selection: >First team: 2005–07 >Second team: 2008, 2010 >Third team: 2002, 2003 2× NBA All-Star Weekend Skills Challenge winner: 2005, 2010 5× NBA regular season leader for assists per game: 2005 (11.5), 2006 (10.5), 2007 (11.6), 2010 (11.0), 2011 (11.4) 6× NBA regular season leader for total assists: 2005 (861), 2006 (826), 2007 (884), 2010 (892), 2011 (855), 2012 (664) 2× NBA regular season leader for free-throw percentage: 2006 (.921), 2010 (.938) 7× NBA regular season leader for assists per 48 minutes: 2004 (12.6), 2005 (16.1), 2006 (14.2), 2007 (15.8), 2008 (15.5), 2010 (16.1), 2011 (16.4) 4× member of 50-40-90 Club: (2006, 2008–10) Has more 50-40-90 seasons than any other player in NBA history One of only five players to have ever shot 50-40-90 One of only two players to have shot 50-40-90 more than once Lou Marsh Trophy (Canadian athlete of the year): 2005 3× Lionel Conacher Award (Canadian male athlete of the year): 2002, 2005, 2006 J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award (NBA award for outstanding citizenship and community service): 2007 Steve Nash is great at what he does. The Lakers wanted him because of his ability to run the offense smoothly and make all his teammates including Kobe better. Mike Brown doesn't even come close to the accomplishment as Steve Nash. The only reason why Mike Brown was able to make it to the Finals was because of Lebron James. Mike Brown isn't even near the top coaches in the NBA right now and he can't even get the respect of Andrew Bynum
Rick Adelman. They chose Mike Brown over Rick. This is like picking Greg Oden over Kevin Durant. You just don't do that.
Guys, first a qualifier: There is nobody on this forum that dislikes the Lakers any more than I do. Mike Brown had no business being hired by the Lakers last year, a team with championship aspirations. No other team in the NBA would give MB the time of day, but Jim Buss decided to do it his way. A huge mistake that most of us laughed at when announced. Still, you make a mistake counting out Mike Brown and the Lakers this early. For one, they are heavily invested in the guy and firing him midway would basically puncture the entire season. I don't see the Lakers doing that. He will be given every chance to succeed and will only be let go if/when the Lakers give up and it's obvious they are not contenders this year. I had serious doubts their new lineup, Mike Brown and the Princeton offense would function well, but give them time. If necessary, they will dump the offense and go to whatever works the best. Don't count them out yet, wait until Brown is actually fired. Then we can celebrate another failed Laker season.
If they picked JVG...as the HC...they win the title this year...he would let Nash/ Kobe worry about the offense... and he would make Howard and Gasol into the best PF Center combo since Duncan and Robinson... JVG when he was with Houston minimized possession wasting...he may not score a ton of points...but he just suffocated the life of his opponents...Now he wont need to coach the offensive side of the ball...and just let Nash and Kobe operate... Thank God, Buss still has Mike Brown...Thank God...
Mike Brown is an idiot. I desperately hope the Lakers don't figure it out and fire him. He will probably be the main reason they lose.
And Robert Horry checking Nash into a scorer's table, resulting in Amare Stoudemire getting suspended.
All the pieces are in place again for Phil Jackson to come out of retirement half way through the season and lead all these ego's to a championship. The only knock I always had with Jackson is he always conveniently came back when all the pieces and superstars were there. Never took a rebuilding team anywhere.
I don't know. If their FO is smart, and if there is a conflict between Brown and Nash early on, then they might get rid of Brown before the season is lost. Mike Brown is extremely stupid in saying something in public that could offend Nash this early in the season. It's one thing to point fingers when they were no longer contending. It's completely different when the season had just started and the coach needed every one of his star players to buy in. Now is not the time to piss off your star PG.
The joke will be on the team that hires Brown after LA and realizes the only reason he has a job is due to coaching 2 of the best players ever!! Im sure they could make any coach look good!
IMO, for the Lakers to toss their training camp in the trash can and start over with a new coach so early is foolhardy. Nash will get over it. They have very little continuity from last year. IMO, they are dead meat the minute Brown is fired. They have to give it 20 games minimum, probably more like 30-35 unless they start 6-14 or 7-13 (which won't happen).
I hate the Lakers too, but the fact is that their starting 5 is probably the best in the Western Conference. They just need some time to jell. Mike Brown is probably trying to stir something up to fire the team up.
All Mike Brown has done is ride the coattails of Lebron. He is trying to do the same with DH, Kobe, Nash, Gasol.
Mike Brown a motivator? LOL.You have to be a complete moron if you think pick and roll doesn't win you games? He isnt trying to fire anyone up, he actually believes this. The Lakers are too good not to win, but if they don't win the Finals this year, its because of an idiot coach like Brown. Time isnt on their side either like Miami's first year. Not when Kobe and Nash are on heir tail end of their careers. If L.A. had any sense, which they dont. They'd have at the very least Sloan on speed dial.
They had all off-season and they didn't win any games albeit without DH but that was a real surprise to me that they didn't win a game with that squad but people kept saying it's only the pre-season and did anybody doubt that they would be in the NBA finals. Now they have Dwight back and they lose their first two. I don't know, on paper they should dominate and they're struggling, maybe Father Time has caught up with them.
