One of the guys on 790am made a good point on the morning show. He mentioned going after DeMarcus Cousins. I absolutely agree. Ever since Cousins sent that tweet after the trade that night, him coming to Houston has been on my mind. He and Omer would make a good one two punch at the 5. They would even be a good duo on the floor together. DeMarcus would be the perfect acquisition for this young team. I just don't see the use for another PF. This team would do so much better getting a scoring 5 and that is just what Cousins would bring to the Rockets. A line-up of: Lin Harden Parsons Jones Asik would be well on their way to contention. What say you Clutchfans?
Well Houston and Sacramento have had a good relationship over the seasons. Maybe we would have to part with one of the rookies and our pick? Patterson would probably be in the trade.
It's possible, just may take another losing season or two from the Kings and I'm sure his patience will have run out with that place. Also by then they would have drafted another top 5 draft pick or two and maybe are more willing to deal cousins away. Just think if Robinson stops being worthless and they draft say Zeller or Noel...they may give up on Cousins if they get a bunch back.
He's not leaving SacTown anytime soon. And he would likely play the 4 alongside Asik if he did somehow get here.
If that were to happen, it would likely be after this season. You have to hope the Rockets make the playoffs, convey the 1st round pick to ATL to get that out of the way, hope the Kings suck this year, offer Patterson/Motiejunas/2014 1st/+ filler, and take back a bad contract (hopefully the Chuckwagon). EDIT- And DeMarcus would play Power Forward, and occasional Center to make room for whatever remaining 4's are on the roster.
I'm fine with Omer starting. I'd like to see a little bit more of what we currently have before trading for anyone - with the exception of backup PG.
Although he has been playing PF, at 6'10-6'11 with a 7'4-7'5 wingspan, he would be better utilized at the 5, IMO.
I like what Pat brings to the table defensively - Jones too. We haven't seen either of these guys in the lineup yet with Harden. I don't want to take the ball out of Harden or Lin's hand and give it to a chucker, or trade for a PF that can only play one side of the court effectively. Pat's athletic, can D-up, and hit the outside shot. He's solid. He's also not going to cause locker room issues. He also has a developing post game. Let's just chill for a few games and see what happens.
I would not personally. He plays no defense though. He kinda reminds me of Fool's gold. I don't think the Jazz fans would even be sad to see him go. That's not a good thing for a guy we'd have to pay big money to.
One of the few ways I can see a cousins trade working if it ever went down. They dump their bad contracts with him, and get prospects back as well as a pick. Likely would happen at the trade deadline. We trade- Asik, Dmo, First available 1st rd pick, Morris, Cook (filler contract) They trade- Cousins, Hayes, Salmons Lin/Douglas Harden/Salmons Parsons/Delfino/White Ppat/Hayes/Jones Cousins/Smith/Aldrich
I wouldn't mind getting Cousins to play the 4. He might have maturity issues but his talent is worth it.
Cousins has grown into a beast and his maturity issues have become vastly overstated. In any event, this is a moot point, as Cousins will be a RFA and there is no chance in the nine hells SAC will let him go. The SAC front office is painting him as their savior and foundation piece. Unless you are sending SAC Lin+Harden, it's not happening.
