Matt Jackson on AM790 was also optimistic this morning and said he expects something with the other 3 by next Wednesday. He also said Comcast's Houston share was about 40% and they don't want most of the market missing Rockets games.
J&R don't come on until later this afternoon. I was listening to MAD Radio (only 610 show I like) and they didn't mention this at all and were actually pretty negative about the whole thing. Davies even mentioned having DirecTV and having no way to watch.
I live in the Bryan-CS area. I was miffed last night to find out that the free LP preview didn't include the Rockets game. I called DTV and the first rep. told me that even though the screen message said the game was "blacked out," that the real issue was that the deal between DTV and Comcast hadn't been settled. She transferred me to an account "specialist" to see if they could compensate me in some way to diffuse my anger. Then account rep. completely countermanded what the first rep. told me and said it was a true blackout and they have no control over that. I understood that, but when I told her what the first rep. said, she said, "Well, I'm sorry that some of our reps. are completely informed." So today I was wondering which statement was true -- was it a true black out or that a deal hasn't been reached yet? So I called Toyota Center and just happened to get a lady who happened to be a graduate of A & M and we had a few minutes conversation about the whole incident. I wanted to post her explanation to hopefully allay any fears about the insane black out map that DirecTV displays and that has been posted in this thread a couple of times. The Rockets do control the black out area for the Comcast broadcast when not a part of League Pass. She said the black out area (usually 75-90 miles, was her off-hand comment) applies to the broadcast via LP, but not if you have Comcast as a "channel" that is part of your cable or satellite subscription. In other words, if you would normally get the regional sports channel (FSH the last few years) thrown in with your DTV subscription, then once the deal is reached, you should get the "new" Rockets channel, just like you got FSH. Additionally, she said she was able to drive over to her parents house, who have Comcast and watch the game in Houston. So the Rockets do NOT black out games on their local affiliate (FSH or the new Comcast ch.) even within Houston. Or at least according to her. It was a pain to not be able to watch the opening game, but hopefully, those of us who enjoyed the Rockets in the past few years via FSH will be able to do so in the same way, no matter what the label on the channel covering the Rockets -- Comcast, or whatever. I guess we'll see soon whether it really turns out that way or not.
The game is on YouTube I watche it last night thank god. But please baby Jesus let a deal get die with u verse before home opener.
Nice, they blocked me too last night for a little bit also. Whoever is doing their Facebook page is just responding to some comments with the typical "we understand your frustration" blah blah bs lol.
I just searched Rockets v Pistons on YouTube. Game is broken up into 3 videos but it gets the job done.
If you have DirecTV just keep checking this page daily. http://dtv.client.shareholder.com/releases.cfm
Does anyone here have NBA League Pass and doesn't live locally? I'm thinking of adding it to my U-verse account and I live in CA. From what I'm told, I should be able to watch all my Rockets games since I'm out of market. Can someone confirm or deny this?
If you live in California and get league pass with UVerse, yes, you'll be able to watch Rockets games. I don't think you will ever get the CSN feed though since Uverse doesn't carry the channel, but you should get the away team.
I don't care much for the CSN station since all games would be blacked out anyway since I'm out of market. I know some games will be subjected to black out if they're broadcast on national TV, but will I be able to watch all the other Rockets games?
Just received some promising news from DirecTV. Well at least it seems that way. I told them I have been receiving conflicting information from their reps and hearing different stories on the radio. The link in the email is DirecTV's promise to you about CSN.
This is the same information they been giving to customers since this whole issue started. I called yesterday and was told the same thing, however the rep told me they have a 99% success rate when it comes to closing these types of deals.
