Mchale started a SF in the PF position last night based on what he wants Lin and Harden to do - attack the basket. He wanted to make sure that the opponent's PF don't clog the lane and the only way to do that is to have a PF that can shoot from the outside so he can lure him off the paint. If we are to replace PPat, we need somebody who can shoot it from the outside, rebound, good pick and roll defender and occasionally post up. But posting up should not be the best strength of this power forward as it will limit our backcourt's ability to attack.
I'd like to see what d-mo and Jones can do this year. With that said besides the guys we have the top FA PF's you're looking at is Josh Smith and Millsap. If we want better we would have to try and trade.
I want a PF who you can throw the ball to on the blocks and let him go to work ... back to the basket or facing up , that demands a double team. I dont think Josh Smith is that guy ...Very good player but not the "Post Presence" I feel like this team is lacking. Lamarcus Aldridge would be my first choice of players from "other teams" if you could pry him away from Portland for a reasonable cost. Demarcus Cousins would be another high on my list. But .... For now I think they should run Motejunas and Jones out there and let them develop , if they fail to do so then start looking elsewhere for that player.
I like DMO myself based on how the team is built. If he improves his pick and roll defense and rebounding, he might just be the perfect power forward
Or go get Al Jefferson and move him to the 4. I just hate his defense though. My dream scenario would be to get Derrick Favors in '14. In the meantime I'd love to see how PPat and T-Jones progress. Morris is dead to me. Donuts will be an interesting project.
I know he is a knuckle head but kid is only 24. Karl has him in doghouse. read this http://www.denverpost.com/nuggets/c...need-well-paid-center-javale-mcgee?source=rss Kosta Koufos, whose salary is $3 million this season, is expected to start at center ahead of McGee, whose paychecks will total $10 million in 2012-1
Lets see how our young PFs pan out first. The ones that didn't even get PT in our first game. We need to get a good bench. When Harden or Lin sat out our offense was 100% stagnant. Our bench was also horrible against the Pistons at that....
I'm thinking Zack Randolph. He may be available for pretty cheap as the Grizz look to unload his contract. he would probably only come available if the Griz are not one of the top teams in the league, but I suspect that is going to be the case. The guy would be perfect for this team by the way, and, if the Grizz start looking to unload him, he could probably be had for Patterson and filler.
with Lin and Harden and the appeal of our no-tax + Asian connection opportunity, Houston should have no trouble attracting any free agent PF
Anyone who is a back to the basket player. I know they are rare now a days... absolutely no josh smith. Sure, get him if you want fun basketball that will equate to no championship.
