I found the following data pretty interesting and surprising. http://money.cnn.com/2012/11/01/news/economy/wages-jobs/index.html On a day with other positive economic data, we have this by-sector analysis of the 4 million jobs created over the last two years. I had bought the talk that the recovery was overwhelmingly "low wage," but it looks like that doesn't tell the whole story. 1,770,000 of the 4 million jobs have been created in health care, technical services and manufacturing, all at or above $25/hour.
That would make a great TV ad for Obama. Get a bunch of testimonials with names, then pan to a huge group of 1.77 million people saying "Thank you, Mr. President for my new job." Wonder why it hasn't been done? Remember, I'm the dumb one here. If I could think it up, surely Axelrod and all the geniuses could have thought it up long ago. Screech! Quick! Somebody run tell them! It's obvious that jop has decided to go all in. And if he's stupendously wrong on November 6th, it won't matter because he won't be around to eat crow.
Tell you what, if I'm wrong, I'll hang around for a few days, post that I was wrong and grovel for you. How's that? I'll make sure and blow it up by Nov. 15...and in between there, I'll fully acknowledge how badly I missed it. Now...question is...what will you do when Romney is elected? Put up or shut up.
Ummm, I think I'll carry on as before, basing my political positions and opinions on the best evidence available. But, if Romney wins I'll go ahead and donate 50 bucks to the tip jar. Now that I think of it, if Obama wins I'll also make a donation, since it's about that time anyway.

That endorsement is not so stunning. They have had their criticisms of Obama, but they are fairly data driven. Data driven entities really only have one port in this storm. It's too bad, b/c I expected a better campaign from Romney. (no, not kidding!)
I think Romney is in a bad situation. The Republican party has a major problem in that the base is so locked into the "always lower taxes" meme and "spending is from the devil" that it makes it really hard for Romney to campaign with the truth. I think back to the primaries where they all turned down $10 in cuts for $1 in spending. That is baffling. Simply baffling. I don't believe that they all honestly feel that way, but the base has become so rabid and stupid about taxes and spending that candidates on the right can't be honest and get elected. Edit: Take healthcare reform. I hate it and want it repealed/replaced or heavily modified. Not because I don't think the government should get involved, but because I think the manner in which they did it was terrible. A lot of the provisions that DON'T get talked about are simply ridiculous. Everyone talks about free preventive care, no pre-x, the mandate, infants on parents plan until age 26, etc. They don't talk about employers being required to hand out an SBC regarding plan changes 60 days in advance of that change or facing a $1000 fine for each member of their plan. (Including children and spouses) They don't talk about employer plans being limited to deductibles no higher than $2000 which is going to cripple a lot of small business plans and eliminate the HSAs completely. Candidates can't really talk honestly about healthcare reform because the base on the right can't handle real discussion. Instead you have to act like it's the devil and we should just get rid of it and only do the right wing talking points.
