It's a tough distinction to still try to make. Hybrid stars like Durant and James have played as swingmen on the court regardless of their on-paper positions (so two guard-ish), but then they are often also in charge of initiating the offense (point guard-ish). I've seen "wing" player used a lot to try to get around the problem, but at that point we're just not being specific enough.

Better to just stick with "guards" when we're talking about backcourts. It's usually what people mean, they don't mean any of that "evolution of the league" stuff. Ones, twos, combo guards. You guys are in! Small forwards, you guys hang with the frontcourt players. You get out of here! :)

For us to have a top backcourt, we'd at least need a top-15 PG, which we don't have

Some other young back courts to watch out for would be the Wizards back court with John Wall (when he returns from injury) and Bardley Beal, along with the Cavaliers back court of Kyrie Irving and Dion Waiters.

This is really going to be one to look out for. Waiters was excellent in his rookie debut.

Lol...Make sure to check Harden stats while you are at it. The man went 2-17 on one of those PRE games and shot 28% for whole preseason. Please GTFO with your meaningless stats.

Not at the moment, but if you ask me what backcourt would I want to build around, then I'd choose Harden+Lin and its not even close.

Monta Ellis & Brandon Jennings is a good example of Black Hole, where gravity prevents anything, including basketball, from escaping. Total opposite of Lin + Harden.

Lin and Harden are top 5 or better IMHO. I would really like the Rockets to go a different route at backup PG. They made a mistake cutting Livingston.
