out of the 28 games Lin started his team went 15-13 During Dragic's run he was 13-13 Dragic kept the team a float, when Martin was injured, Lowry was out, Dalembert was bothered by injuries, and earl Boykins as our back up pg. The only reason we lost at the end is because every player was damn exhausted and we had no center because Camby was also injured. Dragic basically had no backup, neither did Lee, Pat pat was forced to play center with Scola at power forward, that's why we went on that losing streak. Please save you misinformation about a Rockets player in a uninformed forum. and here's the please don't compare Dragic to jennings as a starter last year Dragic shot 49% from the field and 38% from the three, while Lin shot 44% and 34%. Dragic played 36 minutes while Lin played 34 minutes so don't give me that adjusted minutes crap.
To compare Lin to Dragic is silly, Dragic chose to leave because of a player option. After that we had to scramble for a PG and we are extremely fortunate to be able to get Lin considering our other options were players like Aaron Brooks. If anything you should be comparing Lin to Brooks.
Actually since Lin started his team was 15-10 in 25 games. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/l/linje01/gamelog/2012/ Lin had a lineup of Tyson Chandler, Landry Fields, Bill Walker, Jarred Jeffries, etc when Stoudemire and Melo were out. He lead them to wins, then Melo came back he started losing some. Also, he was playing with his injury in his last few games, and blah blah blah. If you want to make excuses for Dragic's loss, you can do the same for Lin. Lin saved NYK's season, without him they wouldn't make the playoffs. Houston got knocked off. Dragic just doesn't have much potential, and most people outside of some houston dragic fanboys don't care much for him
guys we have to be sensitive to Dragic he was a Rocket almost took them to the playoffs without any superstars. These brothers have been on that ride with him. It's real for them For us LOF, we were swept by lin in the Knicks games, until melodrama happened. Glad that he is out and in a better place now. The home of Yao and Hakeem. In a sense we are in their home, the Rockets. it's like Rockets past and Rockets present. just as long as we don't get racist silly troll baiting .... just stop to ponder and think before you post. ANYWAY i am glad HARDEN is the deal. My only wish now is for Jlin to Teamup with him good, and build something unstoppable.
Thi thread is a "if Jeremy does better, we'll be great" thread. Then people come and say he is "average" he's "marginal". He replaced the good pg's so I'm not happy. Who's starting the wars here?
If you're going to cite stats, please be fair and cite everything that is relevant. By citing FG% instead of TS%, you've effectively ignored Lin's superior ability to draw fouls, which was an important part of his offensive output and impact on games. True shooting percentage is a better reflection of offensive efficiency than FG% because it accounts for all of it -- two pointers, three pointers, and free throws. Lin .552 TS% Dragic .537 TS% I'm not going to sit here and pull out all the numbers, since this is all publicly available information. For shorthand, I'll just cite their Player Efficiency Rating which accounts for ALL output. Again, Lin was superior. Lin 19.9 PER Dragic 18.5 PER So, it is not obvious that Dragic was better last year, based on the stats. I personally don't even care about this debate about which player is better. But I'm not going to sit back and watch while misinformation is thrown around. There's been plenty of that already.
Maybe in a few seasons. Rondo has had consistent playing time/opportunity since he was in the league(20m per game first year, going up to 30+ after every year after that) and the year he got into the conversation for top 5-10 PG he was avging 11/8. Not too far off from his career stats. I'm just showing that points/assists are equally important, and statlines alone is a bad judge for determining good PG's.
Rondo didn't get into the conversation of top 5-10 PG until that year's postseason, when he had that epic duel with Rose with KG hurt. He averaged 17 and 10 in those playoffs.
To be fair, alot of the stats posted aren't being posted by the stats gearheads. Only a fairly small portion of the basketball community actually know what the advanced stats are, let alone study them in any detail. I don't assume that it's intentional misinformation, though I do agree, it is important to put statistics into their proper context and to point out the weaknesses in some statistics, especially the ones that are misused the most like PPG, APG and TO/game. Edumacation is gud.
He was actually in the conversation already due to his decent play when they won the championship the previous year. Although he does pad assist stats and seems to care more for it then points; when I do watch him I do get quite annoyed when its just him and another person running off on break for a trailing defender and he passes it off for the assist.
No, not really. Rondo was an afterthought when they won the ring. He was seen as the weak link at the time. He didn't earn his stripes until he battled Rose in the 1st round.
I'm saying most nba fans, honestly speaking, arn't following to see how Dragic is doing. They could care less what Dragic does but to the majority of fans he's considered a mid-tier PG now while before his run last year he was considered a back-up PG, while Lin is a big figure mostly because of what he did and his potential(Lin does have potential to be a super star or at the very least, all star, but then again so did Gerald Green and OJ Mayo). And Dragic going to a small market losing team like the Suns is not gonna help. And if Dragic doesn't win and/or put up numbers while making his teammates better, he's not gonna get much attention from the majority of nba fans. Why are you guys so hung up on Dragic anyways? Getting Lin or not, he was leaving. Without Lin, we would be stuck with Toney Douglas as a starting PG.
