Even though I live 200 miles away and am closer to Dallas than Houston, I am still in a broadcast market for Rockets apparently. This is great in a way since I have been a huge Rockets fan since early 90's when the Amigo Carl Herrera started playing for them. Last year I was able to watch games on Fox Sports Houston channel of Directv. Now, I guess it will hurt me instead that I am in their market, and there is no solution for it. So far 2 different games that came on the NBA TV channel have been blacked out to me and the last games that was on NBA League pass with the free preview was blacked out as well. This seems ridiculous when I have no Comcast channel available to watch it and no provider even offering it to me here. Even if I paid for the league pass, apparently the games of the Rockets would be blacked out. Guess I will just have to find streams or something, because I can't even pay to get them if I wanted to.. Ridiculous!
When advertisers realize no one's watching, comcast will be forced to lower the asking price to UVerse, Dish, etc. Comcast picked the wrong year to pull this manuver.
They would be invisible in North Texas with or without this station. You would never get to watch the Rockets unless it was against the Mavs, on national TV or on league pass.
Morey fkd it all up, he should of never got Harden or Lin we should of tanked now how our we gonna watch the Rockets play?? I got uverse and will call them and b*tch at them tonight and tell him I have to go to the bar to watch it which is money out of my pockets for drinks an food when I should be at the comforts of my home.
I do see the game is on Fox Sports Detroit channel, which I'm sure will be blacked out. I notice there is a replay at 11pm though, so if I'm lucky maybe that will not be blacked out. Still sucks to have to resort to this or shady streaming. I was able to dvr a late night replay of one of the NBA TV preseason games that was blacked out live, but was viewable on the replay.
I come to GARM to check things out (has been a while) and I find out about this? I was so ready to watch the game tonight.
Charlie Pallilo's theory is that Comcast use the Harden signing excitement and hoped for good start to the season to max out carrier switches to Comcast over the first week or two of the season. Then an agreement will quickly be reached. But he also pointed out not everyone in LA can get the Lakers game in a similar situation.
I'm SO glad we got Harden and Lin. I'll TOTALLY go out an get comcast. Pft. Right. And Grizzly Adams had a beard...
Just got off the phone with Uverse. The rep stated that she has no info as of yet, but mentioned that even the Lakers channel was a last minute addition. So I'm holding out hope till this weekend or it crapcast time.
Was thinking about just trying to get some discounts from uverse and use that extra money for1 hd receiver on a month to month subscription to comcast. Really the only feasable workaround right now besides the crappy streams online.
Must not give comcast $$$$$$$$$$$$......mu8st be strong... watch on innertubes n listen to radio...(get batteries)...must spend too much in sports bars...and whine to ATT in bangcock.....must be strong..must put down phone.....
Don't give in..this is what Comcast wants!...They'll get the finger before they get my money..stay strong brother.
