Gonna try asking this again: Are re-broadcasts at midnight going to still happen, and are they affected by the blackouts? Additionally, does anyone know of a good source to perhaps find torrents or links to *HD* recordings of the games after the fact? I am not wasting my time watching a crappy stream of the game, that is worse than not seeing it at all.

I referenced the contractual agreements in my post. Again, this didn't just come out of the blue. The providers have known about this for two-plus years. I find it hard to believe that any contract a provider has inked with Fox Sports doesn't have opt-outs at least every year or two, given the constantly changing landscape of team media rights. Furthermore, Fox Sports was just one example. There are plenty of other channels on the extended basic tier with less interest than CSN. You can't tell me a few of those contracts haven't come up in the past two years.
There are tons of other Comcast SportsNet affiliates all over the country, and nearly all are carried by non-Comcast providers. If what you're saying was the case, they wouldn't be.

I'll repeat what I posted in a "black out" question thread. Black out rules are insane. There are how many millions of people in Houston and the Toyota center will hold how many of them? The question is, are fans bold enough to really cancel their subscriptions to satellite/cable providers if things don't pan out the way we'd like?
I look at it exactly the opposite. The providers know they have strength in numbers. Other than Comcast, which people know is the most expensive option, there's nowhere for folks to turn. Think about Dish and DirecTV, who compete for the satellite market. They hold ENORMOUS power. If they want CSN to lower its asking price, it only makes sense for them to band together so that consumers have as little alternative as possible.
I tried. Cancelled U-verse under protest and made it abundantly clear that the reason was specifically related to CSN Houston not being made available. I then signed up for Comcast, again under protest, making them fully aware that I did not want to be a customer and was being forced into this because of how they had structured the deal. Four days later Comcast installers are 5.5 hours late, no phone call, and then show up at dark in an unmarked vehicle and 2 of the 3 individuals could not speak English. They then proceeded to try to charge me an additional $60 for two new coax drops. Had them connect me to their supervisor who might have well have just said "suck it". At that point I told the guys to forget it. They sped out like they were on fire leaving my gate open and the connection box contents strewn about my backyard... I called Uverse the next morning and by that evening had service reestablished and boxes in both rooms. Still no CSN Houston. I tried to put my money where my mount is/was and still got jammed. Net result = same service as before and still no rockets. Just days of time and money wasted!
Not sure if someone already posted, but for Dish Network customers they're giving a Free NBA League Pass preview till Nov. 7. (I think ch.560 & up). The Rocket's game is on, probably from the Detroit broadcast but I'm guessing they will somehow black it out.
Hate to see this happen. We just went through this in New Orleans. Tonight's game against the Spurs will be the first one us Directv viewers will be able to see in the New Orleans area. From 2002 when the Hornets got here till the end of last season, the Hornets were on Cox Sports Television. Pretty much only those people who had Cox could watch the games. Sometime around 2008 or 2009, Dish Network added the channel, but that was it. Charter Communications added it in 2010, I think. That was it. No Directv, no U-Verse. After Tom Benson bought the team in April, he did not renew the contract with Cox and signed on with Fox Sports. Tonight Fox Sports New Orleans signs on for the Hornets/Spurs game on Channel 678 and 678-1 on Directv--Fox Sports Houston's old channel location. It will be the first time I can watch a non-national televised Hornets game in my house since they moved here in 2002. I had bought a partial ticket plan back in 2002 when the team relocated here but did not renew in protest to the TV situation. Now that I can watch games on TV, I have purchased a partial season ticket package again. The only way to really send a message is to stop buying tickets and merchandise. Hurt them in the wallet. Like I said, I hate to see you guys going through this. I have felt your pain for the past 10 years. As an Astros fan, I'm wondering what I am going to do come baseball season. Just ordered comcast today for a November 5th install. Still holding out hope that Uverse will pick up the channel by then so I can cancel the comcast install.
Portland. And CSN Houston is owned by the Rockets AND the Astros, they know they have the leverage. It isn't just one team, it's two. More people will want it.
