I can see providers being to blame if some of them had a contract with CSN but none of the major providers currently have one. CSN keeps saying its the providers fault but they cant all be wrong in this. It sucks to just stream a crappy picture of the game but i refuse to have Comcast bully me into switching providers.
Juan Valdez is right and this view is not a vacuum. If CSN cared about the fans they would sign a deal with KIAH (CW) or KTXH (My20) which is over the air and 100% of Houston area TVs would receive for free. That would guarantee the most viewers but they don't do it, why?
I called them, asked to speak to a manager, told him i haven't missed a game in like 20 years and if i didn't have the channel by Wednesday I'd seriously consider switching. I told them i pay them way too much not to be able to watch my favorite team play, he offered the price reduction.
I don't understand what you think I said was wrong. Comcast is not offering their channel for Free (where did I say that?) and essentially agree on second part except I'm saying its not in Comcast's best interest to sign a deal now unless it is very favorable to them.
What a bunch of corporate ****ing bull****. Tad Brown is lying. "Oh, yeah, I care! I can empathize! I don't get the game either!" Are you ****ing kidding me? This guy is completely full of ****. He's just shilling so that Comcast (and the Rockets) can get more money. Good lord, do all these people think we're stupid? JUST GIVE THE FANS THE CHANNEL. THAT IS ALL YOU NEED TO DO.
How is it that some of the smaller providers like Coastal Link, Consolidated Communications, EnTouch, and Phonoscope can offer Comcast SportsNet to their customers, but DirectTV and U-Verse can't?
Let me restate so we don't get lost in semantics. FSNSW no longer provides any major local sporting programming for the Houston market. The contract should have contingencies based on providing major local sporting events. Either a significant reduction in service fee's or an absolute out. You don't negotiate a long contract with a provider based upon them carrying several key components, then have them lose said components and still be able to attain full fees. It's why you pay negotiators and have lawyers review all documents. The fox sports network is holding on by a thread now, and I am sure they are no longer recieving their once full premiums from Houston providers. Sure - comcast is asking for a significant premium as opposed to what was negotiated long ago with FSSW. But guess what, that's called price appreciation. Ask any CBD office tenant who signed their lease ten years ago and is negotiating an extension now. In many cases, they are seeing double and even tripling rates.
This guy is a total BS artist. A few months ago I heard him on 790 when they were announcing the radio switch and he was basically gloating about how we were going to land Dwight Howard. It was pathetic. I wouldn't believe a thing he says.
CSN Houston on twitter - "Negotiations continue. As soon as there's news, you'll see it here. Thanks for being patient."
She is sending the xfinity signal? My cousin in Houston has comcast and I think I can log on to his account and try and watch it online, though I am not seeing CSN on their xfinity site.
Great, so those are all pretty much in the downtown area, anywhere that anyone know's of on the NW side?
Here are some possibilities: Since they're not in direct competition with Comcast (unlike DirectTV, Uverse, and so on), they just immediately cave to Comcast's demands. Also, Comcast may not make the same demands on smaller providers than they do on their serious competitors. Basically, what's happening here is that a bunch of cable companies are in competition to control a greater share in the market, and we're all losing out because of it.
How about in the katy area? All those are in downtown or near downtown. I'm thinking most sports bars will have direct tv, so best bet is to maybe check out a restaurant or mom pop place.
