According to wikpedia.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NBA_salary_cap "The maximum amount of money a player can sign for is contingent on the number of years that player has played and the total of the salary cap. The maximum salary of a player with 6 or fewer years of experience is either $9,000,000 or 25% of the total salary cap (2010–11: $14,511,000), whichever is greater."
Yeah. I would guess that it will end up being just a max extension without any options, though. I just think Morey might try to put the team option in there at first. If nothing else, you start negotating from a better position than you would if you were to offer just a simple max deal outright. Can't propose a straight max deal ot the agent and then have the agent ask for a player option. Not much leverage other than contract security.
Yeah that's my fear because Morey has said he'll break his rules for a max guy, as Harden is not a superstar yet I hope we get the advantage on the issue.
When will Harden sign his contract extension? hmm..isn't the deadline a day or tomorrow? is the signing imminent?
I think the deadline is today or tomorrow. So, I would say he will sign it today or tomorrow. Shocking!
Once Morey signs Harden for the max of 5-year, 78 million, Harden will be locked up for the next 6 years! So technically, it will be a 6-year, 83.8 million contract, including this year's 5.8 million.
