I don't understand this incredulity at the prospect of Jeremy Lin being the Rockets' leader when: A) As PG, he's naturally the on-court leader and B) He's one of the more experienced (believe it or not!) and highest-paid players on the team "Not vocal enough", "not assertive"... What are these characterizations based on? During Linsanity, Lin was obviously the clear leader of the team. He took over the offense during 4th quarters, took a game-winning shot and made it, and played the role of the graciously humble star in the media. And according to the ESPN article, Lin took no crap from Melo and had the whole team accepting his leadership except for that malcontent (and probably JR). And yet, there are people here who are still relying on stereotypes of Lin somehow being incapable of being a visible leader despite all evidence to the contrary. Anyway, Jeremy Lin will definitely be one of the leaders. He plays PG and has a really high profile around the league. James Harden is clearly the most talented and battle-hardened player on a young and inexperienced team, so that'll force him into a leadership role. Other guys like Chandler Parsons and Patrick Patterson will also be leaders because this is a young team that doesn't revolve around one egotistical megastar.
Harden has olympic and finals experience. What does Lin have? (usual disclaimer: I don't hate Lin, I want him to be successful. But once again let's get real). Some players are not cut out for leadership despite their skills, however. It's possible that the vocal leader in a lockerroom could be someone you don't expect. Maybe it could be Lin. Maybe Parsons. Maybe Toney Douglas.
pecking order imo harden (how the fuq are you gonna ignore an olympian, finalist) --> Parsons --> Lin/Asik. Lin is a leader in the sense he probably shows amazing work ethic. Harden being the vocal and experienced leader. Asik being the defensive/hussle leader setting the tone for rest of the team
Shane Battier and Chuck Hayes were our leaders before and they weren't the best players. So I dont see how Harden automatically becomes our leader. Parsons and Lin are our leaders right now. Harden maybe later.
Lin said FU, I ain't tucking in my shirt for noone, especially a bearded dude! Spoiler Delfino as well.....
That's pretty weird, 78% are Lin fans? Is anyone else feeling strange on this? If what Dream said is true then 78% of GARM are Lin fans then man this board's got a problem when Lin leaves Just an observation
All this I agree! Don't worry Gil, I know u just want Rockets ball. Maybe just because, when u started on CF, you posted like a transferee from RealGm talking negativity against Lin. Over the weeks, you started to show your true colors. Go Rockets!
Says who? Hahaha . . . Can not deny it. Lin bring real basketball and casual fans alike. Clutch will be super busy this season policing the ranks
Crying foul over an internet poll? I bet if you remove all voters who registered after July 2012, Lin would still win by a landslide.
Chandler Parsons. The dude loves the city and is always finding ways to welcome new players (i.e Lin, Harden)
You know what, actually don't matter about the leader either Lin or Harden, they both great commander, they play a bit same except left and right handed. but for now, i will said, Lin will get high assist per game, and Harden get Higher PTS for sure.. Lin pass to Harden, Harden open shot. Get it, lin assist 15+ (asik, harden, person, all can score very good) , Harden pts 30+, great combo.
