No surprises here. Some people were whining they wanted to cut Aldrich and/or send Motiejunas to D-League. I think both guys end up on the 12 man roster and hopefully earn themselves some rotation minutes.

Livingstone is 27 and makes Tracy McGrady look like an iron man. Rockets want to run. I just don't see him as a long term player and really would not want to count on him.

No way he cause Rockets to lose a young player with any potential.

Douglas is more dependable from health standpoint, has 3 point edge, and plays good defense. Health gives him edge.

Delfino has looked good for a backup.

Cook...I'm not too familiar with Cook. He's only guy that Livingstone may have a grip as a money reason and not a basketball reason.

after what Morey pulled off this week, can we trust these cuts please?

Maybe he thought Douglas would go unclaimed, and it wasn't as likely that we would get rid of his salary vs Livingston

Maybe D Cook is a better salary to move

really, it came down to Livingston or Douglas...because one of those 2 was gonna run backup PG. Machado isn't ready. I trust Morey. If he ends up wrong, what, does he cost a young, developing team a win or 2? In favor of eventually getting Machado some time without any roadblocks?

We're not in "win now" mode unless another big in-season acquisition happens. Otherwise it's a development year

I wish we had kept Livingston, but I don't know who we could have cut instead. *sigh*

I think Aldrich is going to surprise some people. Also I wouldn't mind seeing a front line of SF-Jones/ PF- Motiejunas/ C-Aldrich off the bench.

Now I would sign Livingston for the min, waiving Machado. Sorry for him, like him, but today Shaun can help the team more.

Of course I'm a huge Livingston fan.

Not surprised that they kept Douglas over Livingston. Somewhat surprised that they preferred Machado over Livingston. Machado is not bad. But it's not that hard to find a player like that. Livingston, on the other hand, is rare.

Actually I think Cook over Machado or Livingston. With Delfino, harden and Douglas (who's more of a 2 than a 1), I figured Cook was redundant. Clearly it was about the cap space, not the talent.

How can Cook spread the floor when he can't shoot the 3?

Although he has many other areas with much needed work, if you can scrap together almost as many assists as your starting PG with almost half of his PT needed - that's certainly worth farming IMO

A little surprised that Livingston didn't stick... And Machado's stats are better than his eye test. :)

Man, if you are a contending team, you must be kicking yourself for filling out your roster completely in the Summer. Some real quality players getting released today.

For the Rockets, the cuts make sense.

-Livingston- Solid, versatile, but veteran with little upside. Plus cap savings are great for the team going forward.
-Brockman- The Rockets need their young post players to be better at some of the things that Brockman can do for the team in the paint, but Brockman will never be able to have the upside that someone like T. Jones or D-Mo has.
-Johnson & Hayward- Just never had much of a chance. On the 09-12 Rockets teams they had room for a couple players like these guys to develop as projects. On this team, they just dont have the room to develop projects like them unless they actually have a shot at breaking the rotation this season.
-Forbes- Solid player that any contending team should really try to get. He's similar to Courtney Lee in alot of ways. Hope he finally finds a good landing spot here in the next few weeks.

I guess time will tell if Cook is more Significant to retain on the roster

It would have been cool to see JJJ play more minutes.

Oh well, time for Machado to show what he can do and stay out of the D-League.
