This going to come as a surprise to most, but this is true with just about every customer support center. I've been annoyed at Comcast, but anytime we've called with a complaint, we've constantly been provided with great customer service. They'll either give us free stuff or they are always looking for some sort of bundle/special that ends up saving us money or getting new channels for the same price.
Oh I've been nice, but I'd rather have the Rockets than a little extra off my bill. I told them I'll leave, and after thinking about it for the last few weeks, I'm not bluffing. We'll see how badly they don't wanna lose customers.
so can anyone confirm that if you get directv or dish that the work around is to purchase nba league pass? thanks
It only works (buying nba league pass) if you use a proxy or something to mask your location. (for people in Houston) If you are in Houston and you don't mask your ip you will not be able to see the Rockets via league pass. If you buy it through say DirecTV or dish it won't work. Rockets games will be blacked out.
For those of you with suddenlink in area lady today at customer service is claiming it will go through and a matter of 'when' not'if'. FWIW. okay.. so Im screwed. thanks for confirming this. I am outskirts of Houston wonder how far out the Houston IP blackout thing goes.. moved from california all excited to see the rockets and now this.
Yeah but when is always the question. No doubt it'll get done...but will it get done in time or will we miss the start of the season and possibly more....
that sucks i know a lot of people here in LA are really upset with time warner moving the lakers to their exclusive channel -- not that i care about the lakers games but i still think it sucks that people in the city, the majority of the people cant watch the home team games
They definitely care more about losing customers than Les Alexander does so at least they have that going for them.
Here in San Diego the Padres were on a "Cox" channel much like this and they flat out refused to sell it to Dish, DirecTV, Uverse, etc. Finally it went to the courts and they told Cox they had to sell it to other providers, but of course they could never come to any agreement in 2 years. Finally the Padres left the Cox channel and took it to a Fox Sports channel after 9 years of the majority of the city not being able to watch the Padres. This hurt the team very much as so many young fans grew up not watching the team. It doesn't sound like that is going to be the case in Houston, but getting Comcast to agree on a price point with competitors on a channel like this certainly is not going to be easy.
What do you mean by "outskirts" the black out area is much bigger than just Houston city limits or even Harris co.I wish there was somewhere that showed the actual area on a map ? Tried to find the info one time but no luck.
my friend called dish today and he said the lady was really nice and also a rockets fanatic and she's pissed herself about this, but she said the reason this is going on is because comcast doesn't want to give dish and directv the channel because they want everyone to cancel and come to comcast. She said Dish has been willing to talk and they wanna talk but Comcast doesn't even wanna talk.
I doubt if some phone support tech is really aware of what is going on with contract negotiations. I used to install Dish and wouldn't bet money on much of what they say being true. They have a performance rating based on how long each call lasts, most of them will just tell you anything to shorten a call,or to keep you from escalating it.
So they try to bribe you to stay? Anyways I hope we get some new providers, I'd like to watch my watch my games on the tv instead of an online stream
