The Livingston situation was discussed earlier this summer...he actually gave the Rockets tremendous flexibility...he could have been used in a trade package...could have contributed to the team..could be cut and provided the team cap space... After getting a player like Harden, who has excellent handles...Lin, Harden, with Douglas and Machado isnt a bad proposition...(plus we have our point forward in Royce White...) Rockets now look: C - Asik, Aldrich, Smith PF - Patterson, Morris, DMo SF - Parsons, Jones, White SG - Harden, Delfino, Cook PG- Lin, Douglas, Machado
I don't expect Cook to see much playing time. Delfino will be the backup to Harden and Parsons. DMo will hopefully play some C this year behind Asik to give him more floor time.
Sad to see Livingston go. Machado certainly wouldn't be the Jeremy Lin of this year if we waived him.
Really? I was absolutely expecting Livingston to stick around. Maybe get some team out there to take Douglas off of our hands for cash or something. None of the other cuts should be any surprise.
Here is the link on the Livingston's waived by Houston: http://www.thedreamshake.com/2012/10/29/3573082/rockets-trim-roster-to-15-waive-livingston It is reported by Tom Martin.
I think Tony is hear for his shooting threat & his defense. He likely won't be asked to be a playmaker. He will probably be on the court with at least one of Lin & Harden. TD also provides good defense. It would be interesting to see if Machado gets decent playing time or if he is sent to the D-League.
Here's what Feigen had to say on keeping Douglas over Livingston, the former uber-prospect who hasn't ever lived up to the billing since his devastating knee injury: "When having Harden with 2nd unit, Douglas fits better than before as a shooter, defender. Not as much an issue that he's not a playmaker." ---------- This is just doesn't make sense to me. Livingston is better than Douglas by a wide margin. This argument just seems weak to me.
That quote i just posted from the link Snoopy had above: http://www.thedreamshake.com/2012/10...ive-livingston
Ultimately, Livingston was the better player, but got waived because his old knee wasn't a good fit with the young team going forward. Somebody is going to pick Livingston up. His time with the Rockets wasn't in vain!
Yep. I watched him with the wiz, living in DC, and he was just starting to look like an nba basketball player again. What I saw in preseason made me think that he's finally comfortable again and playing good ball. Have to say, I'm a little disappointed. Cook would have been a better cut since Douglas is a hybrid 1/2 anyway.
Douglas was shocked when he heard this: "Wait, they kept me over Livingston for my _shooting?_ What bizarro world is this?"
