I currently have U-verse, love the service, and especially love the ability to record several shows at once while watching another channel, as well as the ability to pause/ff/rw shows or start in one room and finish in another room.

Well, I'm cancelling the service, and going to OTA for my TV viewing, and looking in to options for DVR. I have a HTPC running windows 7 with a HD video card that enables me to record, but it's rather cumbersome setting up recordings, and watching a show from the computer on a TV in another room is laborious at best.

TiVo looks like a decent option with the fact that it will do just about everything, it's the price that makes me reluctant: $200 for the box, and $15/month for the service which looks like a fee to provide the OTA guide.

What (of any) alternatives are out there to record OTA? Any suggested software to use with windows 7 or win 8?

    Nice. Sounds interesting.

    I have a Logitech Revue.

Recently got cable back to Watch the Texans (they are on local tv but my tv doesn't have a tuner...and I wanted it in HD).
