This is not true. I have my Surface for Windows 8 RT connected to Office 365 right now, and have since Friday. In fact, I have it connected to TWO Office 365 accounts. I can access both email accounts through the mail client and I can save Office 2013 documents to both storage areas, and my personal SkyDrive.

I use a OneNote shared between myself and my teammates extensively every single day, it is uploaded and synced through our Office 365. No problems.

"Microsoft Case No:1186605882 Email access on Microsoft Surface" states otherwise. Trust me, I wanted it to work and I am just relaying what Microsoft Support told me. They very well may be wrong as I felt that every person on both the Surface and Office 365 teams were incompetent. Microsoft's support pissed me off as much (or more) as my device not working.

Is that the full case number? I was going to try reviewing the notes, but that case number doesn't look long enough. It's possible they log those support calls in a different system than the one I have access to.

I don't really know about the O365 compatibility with RT, but I'll ask around on some of the DL's.

I'm telling you, I have two Office 365 accounts connected. I just took this screenshot from the ADD ACCOUNT (WINDOWS KEY+I) window on my Surface RT, even showing one of my Office 365 accounts loaded (edited out messages obviously).

    Office 365 works just fine.

Yes, that is the full case number. I will be more than happy to email you the correspondence that I have had with Microsoft.

Screenshot and post it here... because Office 365 integration is a key selling point of the Surface RT, and one of the main reasons they included Office 2013 for free with the Surface. Office 2013 has Office 365 and SkyDrive integration built directly in to it.

Yes, I agree and have stated that many times to the dumbasses that I talked to. I know that I have said this before but my company is a Silver partner wth Microsoft. We have the ability to sell Office365 and love the product. I want nothing more than to be able to go into my clients using Microsoft technology. This is one of the reason's I have been so pissed off about this.

You're mistaken... sorry if you got incorrect responses via support. Surface fully supports Office 365. COUNTLESS Surface reviews mention Office 365 integration and people have even brought up that the included Office 2013 is for Students and Individuals, but if you subscribe to Office 365 ProPlus you can use it commercially.

I sent this issue out and I've got someone with contacts in the Exchange product group that's going to see what info he can find on this. I'll let you know when I get something back.

Not sure if anyone here are app developers, but for the next 8 days Microsoft is selling their $99 registration at their app stores (Phone and Windows) for just $8. Register at the link below, I believe you pay the $99 and they refund $91 at this point... although a coupon code is coming per their /build stream.

    https://appdev.microsoft.com/StorePortals/en-us/Account/Signup/Start

If you have a DreamSpark (requires .edu account), BizSpark (requires business tax ID) or MSDN you can get access to both marketplaces for free for a year as well.

That is a great write up, but I disagree with the fact that it can't function really well on a non-touchcentric device. I have it on my dual screen home desktop gaming machine, and on my work laptop... both lack touch screens, yet I love Windows 8 on both.

The great apps like Netflix, TED HD, Hulu+, Stanford and Khan Academy viewer turn it in to a solid media device (with more coming from HBO, SHO, TBS, etc). I also really love the integrated search across all apps and the internet. App snapping that auto-scales the classic desktop is awesome too.

On a classic desktop device, the metro/modern UI is just icing on the cake.

Anyone seen the new line of Samsung ATIV Smart PCs?

    http://www.samsung.com/global/ativ/ativ_pc_pro.html

Waiting for a few reviews to pop up but almost certain I'm pulling the trigger on the Pro. It's pretty much everything I've ever wanted in a tablet sans the price but you'll never be able to get a budget tablet (ipad, nexus 10) to run the programs this thing will be capable of running.

The specs of the ATIV PC Pro are nearly identical to the Surface for Windows 8 Pro. Pretty incredible. The only thing is the ATIV seems to have a fan (per the slots on the back of the case), and I'd have to hear it before making a decision.

The Surface for Windows 8 Pro is evidently fan-less and therefore silent, and uses what they are calling "perimeter venting" for cooling.

so after using it for 3 weeks..i am out. luckily i had made an image of my windows 7 install before i upgraded.

windows 8 is a fking mess in regards to the metro interface/start menu. Sure it's faster, more secure..but I the UI is confusing and irritating.

going to back to windows 7 feels like an upgrade.

40 million copies sold in the first month with over 12,300 apps in the store. Windows 8 is doing just fine.
