This is why to me there really isn't a "best" team in the NFL right now. Too much inconsistency everywhere, even the teams with the best records. I think by Week 13 or so, there will be a better idea of who the team to beat it is in both conferences, especially in the NFC since it's more congested with good teams.

Agreed - they are getting better and better as they learn the Manning offense. If they can do what they did today and avoid getting off to their slow starts, they have an incredible offense. Their defense still leaves a lot to be desired, but they've been outstanding the last 6 quarters - and in particular, today against a great New Orleans offense.

I would put the Texans #1, and the Patriots and Broncos as 2a and 2b in whatever order. Baltimore is a wreck and now is severely injured, and no one else seems particularly interesting. Pittsburgh could get in the mix if they could get their defensive stars healthy again.

Just looking at the playoff picture, it's hard to find a good 6th team to put in for either conference:

    AFC:

Houston, New England, Denver, Pittsburgh, Baltimore. But who's #6? Right now, it would be Miami or Indy, neither which seem playoff worthy.

    NFC:

Chicago, SF, NYG, Atlanta, Green Bay. But right now, #6 would be Minnesota? Arizona? Again, there seems be a huge dropoff from #5 to #6.

With the AFC, it's really wide open. Anyone with 3 wins and above right now could get that last WC spot. Teams are just too inconsistent to really boil it down to two imo. I do agree that Miami or Indy probably has the best shot judging by how they're playing right now.

    Eagles/Cowboys/Cardinals/Vikings/Seahawks

I think the Eagles may get things together and get that last WC, OR maybe it'll be the Cowboys, idk. Vikings schedule is too tough down the stretch IMO. Cardinals o-line/qb situation will probably keep them from getting it, their sched isn't easy either. Looking at the Seahawks sched, it's doable, but I'm not really sure about them.

Best free agent pick up by far this year.

That was a pretty incredible statistic they showed on SNF last night about how the Broncos schedule through the 1st 6 games of the year was the toughest in the NFL, and their last 10 games will be the weakest schedule in the NFL.

    NO 14 @ DEN 34
    DEN @ CIN
    DEN @ CAR
    SD @ DEN
    DEN @ KC
    TB @ DEN
    DEN @ OAK
    DEN @ BAL
    CLE @ DEN
    KC @ DEN

It's entirely possible they go 9-1 to finish the year.

If they go 12-4 and Manning keeps improving, it will be MVP #5. He will be the greatest comeback player ever. My ideal playoff scenario is the Broncos come to Houston for the AFC championship game and lose a close one with Arian Foster scoring the winning TD in the final seconds.

For sure! I'm currently LMAO listening to "RoboCoach" as he gives his daily "State Of The Cows" recital. If you close your eyes reaaaaalllly tight, you can almost still believe in him, Jerry Jones and the Cows being "SuperBowl" contenders.

Denver's schedule was considered so tough that their over/under wins before the season (after acquiring Manning) was at 8.5 and it was skewed towards the under. Every gambler was better the under, pushing the payouts.

I'm sick of these snorefest Monday Nighters. Skelton can barely complete a pass, even when he DOES have time. Everything he's throwing is high and behind his receivers. And the defense looks like they don't give a flying crap about tackling.

If I was getting sacked and hit like Skelton/Kolb is, I'd be off on my throws as well. That o-line is terrible - they can't even block a regular 4 man rush. No QB back there would survive.

I hope you're right about the Eagles. Doesn't look like they're going to bench Vick and it really wouldn't make much sense. They are just 2 games out of the division lead and entering what looks to be a soft spot in their schedule. Also, Vick doesn't play defense, special teams, OL or call the plays.

Did S. Scott just call Steve Young the greatest 49ers quarterback in history?
