this thread is about the best trades in Rockets history. So what else are we talking about except for Houston trades?
horrible teammates like Yao Ming? Vince Carter? terrible coaches like Doc Rivers? Rick Adelman? Jeff Van Gundy? Making excuses for an all star who's never won a single playoff series in his 15 years makes you a TOF Yao Ming had a horrible teammate then, he had Tracy. if he had Kobe, we wouldn't be talking about this crap. You obviously don't know ANYTHING about the NBA, you flat out said Tracy McGrady was significantly better Drexler. Drexler's career already proved it. If you want to see someone who knows nothing about the NBA, look at the man in the mirror dude.
fail. you don't know about Clutch City. The Rockets first championship. what kind of Rockets fan are? are you one? you can say you are but I don't believe it.
I don't these people watched or know the same NBA that you and I watch. certainly don't know about the Houston Rockets.
No man, I was talking about the best trade. Not the best player. At the time, Tmac was a top 5 player in the league. For Francis, mobley, and Cato, Tmac was a steal. Rockets became instant contenders. As for better careers, I agree on your points.
i agree that was a good trade and it had to be done. but as far as results, it didn't live up to expectations. do you think tracy's tenure exceeded or met expectations? i think it failed to meet it. Expectations were high. When JVG was coach then Francis had to actually play PG, which he was horrible at. When Francis was with Rudy, the offense was made for him, he didn't have to think. Clyde Drexler is an NBA legend, I know people have somehow associated his basketball skills with his commentating, but it's nothing alike. Clyde was a killer on the court, he dunked on people, he was super tough.
I root for multiple teams and mainly the Knicks. I am a big fan of the Yao-Tmac era, they brought me here and I became a fan of the rockets. I dislike the 84-85 rockets alot. I'm not going to go into details.
Tmac met my expectations the first 2 seasons. He was dominant in every way. But injuries to sura and howard got in the way and awful calls foul calls against yao and poor officiating during the mavs game turned the tide. That season, they could had made it to the finals. Didn't care much for hakeem or clyde. Knicks had the better team in 84-85 until john starks toss the game. Clyde wasn't part of that team but I couldn't root for him. I only remember how ugly sam cassell was when he hit that late jumper to win game 4. As for color commentating, clyde is one of the worst if not THE worst. He adds nothing and bores the hell out of you. Alexander probably promised him a gig after his playing career.
Trading away a fading star in Steve Francis.....and friends for TMAC was a pretty damn good trade (at the time).
You get an F dude for history. 1984-85 New York Knicks Roster and Statistics <script type="text/javascript" src="http://widgets.sports-reference.com/wg.fcgi?css=1&site=bbr&url=%2Fteams%2FNYK%2F1985.html&div=div_totals"></script>
yeah, i'm wondering about that dude's credibility now. and he's also wrong about the 84-85 team too, they were way better than the Knicks also. <script type="text/javascript" src="http://widgets.sports-reference.com/wg.fcgi?css=1&site=bbr&url=%2Fteams%2FHOU%2F1985.html&div=div_totals"></script>
you missed a whole decade, absolute fail. And Yes the Rockets were better than the Knicks in either decade. Hakeem destroyed Ewing.
Never said ewing was better. I still think Knicks had the better team that year until starks decide to play hero ball game 7.
