Guys like DD thought Morey's ways (treating players like assets) would never net us a star. The reason we were able to get a star without tanking was bc of this exact reason. So many moves to get to this one. We still have one more star to get

Naturally once those assets left Houston, they become "Decidedly. More swings at the piƱata."

Pay Harden $15.5 mil a year or pay Martin $13 mil a yearr? Hmm.

One of my favorite parts of this trade is that I no longer have to root for Kevin Martin and I don't have to worry about rooting against Kyle Lowry in Toronto.

I also don't think the Rockets gave up too much: that Raptors pick is going to be in the teens after they narrowly miss the playoffs in the next year or two (don't vote against Lowry and Valanciunas) and Martin is someone I for one am happy to see go (help with chemistry, and he does not fit into a non-Adelman team).

I didn't like the Lamb pick initially, but after seeing him in the summer league, I will admit it sucks to see him go -- and I see exactly why OKC grabbed him. But, as others have said, Harden has a great chance to be the best 2 guard in the league, and Lamb is a small price to pay to have a shot at an All-NBA talent.

I'm starting to like the way this team is shaping up. Good young talent in the frontcourt, a great defensive center, and a potentially potent backcourt (which, with Lin's scoring and Harden's ball handling, compliments each other well), plus a fairly decent bench.

I don't like the the trade.

I like Harden's game. But we only benefit in the short-term and we gave up long term value in a young player and first round picks.

Knowing that we have no chance of beating the Lakers this year, we should be focused on building a strong future.

A 23-year-old borderline elite player signed for the next six years isn't long-term value?

I gotta agree with CAT here man. Basketball is a funny game in that there is only 5 players from your team on the court at a time. That's why almost every team that has won a championship had at least one of the best players at their position on their team. Basketball is not about having a lot of mediocre players with potential, it is about getting one or two of the best players in the game and building around them. We gave up no players that might become the best at their position and got a player who might. If he does not it will be a bad trade, but it is a smart trade because he might.

    Short term? Harden is 23.

Long term value? Lamb and those picks are unproven while Harden is proven.

Who said you can't rebuild for th future without sucking balls? With Harden the avg age of this team is 24!

He has a better shot at becoming the best SG in the NBA right now when you think about it once the old guards (Kobe, Manu, Wade) leaves and he'll be entering his prime and if those guys are still playing they will be on a decline. Gordon is always hurt...and...well...I guess you got Thompson who can flat out shoot...am I missing another young SG here? serious question...the SG position is very weak. Some nice SG prospects coming up, Beal, Lamb, Ross, Shabazz...all completely unproven.

How can we possibly be the same changing Martin for Harden? Harden is already a far better player and can only get better.
