I like the trade, but we have to make another random and big move or we will be stuck in the middle again.
Most teams are pretty content with their roster this time of year, so while I'm sure the Rockets are exploring different trade options, I'd say it's unlikely they'll make another trade. Which will be tough to do, with most of our young "assets" playing the same position.
Josh Smith for our first rounder + Morris + Jones + PPatt. Sign him to full extension. Lin/Douglas Harden/Cook Parsons/Delfino J.Smith/D-mo Asik/Aldrich
I like that one... But I'm afraid Atlanta doesn't like that one... Problem is, even that move wouldn't make us contenders...
Man that front court defensively and that backcourt offensively. Well mostly front court defense. Josh Smith and Asik are stud defender and Parsons is very good too.
Alright I posted Harden With Morey, whenever the deal is right. And he's always looking. Patrick Patterson is the longest tenured Rocket now, that should be an indicator
And idk why everyone loves Josh Smith so much. Yes, he's an elite defender but the guy is a liability on offense. I would prefer Demarcus Cousins or LaMarcus Aldridge.
in a PnR offense like what we will run where he is relied on to finish at the rim I don't think so. If there's one thing about Smith's offensive strength it is his ability to FINISH. I would love to have JSmoove. And with his D we would be one of, if not the best defensive starting fives in the league.
Smith is only discussed because he's expiring. Aldridge isn't going anywhere, and Sac hasn't shown any interest in trading Cousins just yet.
I think just cause Smith is seemingly more available? Though its arguable between Cousins and Smith who is more available, Portland isn't giving up Aldridge - that trade will never happen and he's not a UFA until 2014-2015. Portland is looking for a solid core of Aldridge, Lillard (assuming he pans out) and Batum w/ Leonard as a role piece. That 5 year deal in 2009 basically cemented him as their franchise player.
We have no first rounder to trade because of the Terrence Williams deal. If we do trade our pick, it would have to be on draft night, and we would have to be in the lottery.
I do expect there to be some activity near the trade deadline or at the draft. Until then, I don't expect any more moves. We have cap room that I expect to be used to get our next piece, plus we still do have a lot of nice young players to be used as trade bait.
Harden was really the only all star level player that could potentially have been available up to this point after the Dwight/Bynum/Iggy deal. Look into this season, and here are some of the top flight that could become available by the trade deadline give their free agency situations next Summer- Dwight-X Bynum-? CP3-? Smith-? D. West-X Al Jefferson-X Ty Lawson-? Wall-? Millsap-X Other notables- *Cousins *G. Monroe (note-team options going into next season. Hard to shake these players from their respective teams until the end of next year at the earliest) -I put an X beside the players that no way are coming to Houston in free agency or are not the right fit for Houston moving forward. -Notice the couple PG's listed. CP3 at the top of them of course. Bill Simmons actually thinks that even on the contract Lin is on now, if he's not kicking the ball out of bounds in games, he could actually turn into a half way decent trade asset in the future. I wouldn't really rule that one out entirely although highly unlikely. You really never know whats going to happen as the season progresses. -I think the Rockets will keep an eye on the Bynum/Philly situation if he does not extend out his contract before Tuesday. If they don't come to an agreement, and it looks like Bynum might walk next Summer, watch out.. cue the Dork Elvis theme song. Omer Asik could look really, really good in potential trades coming up in the near future as well. -Josh Smith....eh. I think Morey would make a run at him for the right price, but emptying out the rest of his bucket of assets, AND maxing him out next Summer... not sure even Morey has the stomach for that one. Gonna keep an eye out for Smith on a discount move, if Atlanta wants to dump him at the deadline for a pick or two, but in now way should he be considered the #1 target right now. -As noted, Monroe and Cousins are going to be nearly impossible to get in the next two years. Going to have to wait and see what happens with their free agency situations after that to see what angles Morey can play there. Still, Morey is probably very open about how much he would love to make a deal for either big man. Gonna have to wait on these guys though.
Yeah the only way I give up Terrence Jones and D Mo right now and a few picks would be for an ALdridge or Cousins type of talent... I really feel the Rockets are a good veteran Power Forward away from being legit NBA contenders...And if we have to give up one I say Dmo and Pat Pat and a future 1st Rder for Josh SMith or Aldridge...
