Where would you rank our roster among rebuilding teams now?

One argument many people have raised against the Rockets the past season: That regardless of how many "shrewd" moves Morey makes, the Rockets future is still no better than many of the perennial losers due to the power of top draft picks.

Does that argument still hold water now? Personally, with Harden and a lot of capspace and youngsters to make another big move, I would put up the Rockets young core with that of just about any rebuilding team right now. Other than Delfino and Asik(only 26), our entire rotation right now is going to be 24 and under.

He got the type of player they would hope to get in the draft (in fact Shabazz is compared to Harden). I want to see what he does next.

Not sure, but they might be the only truly "rebuilding" team that I can think of that is good enough this early in their careers to actually make a run at the playoffs.

-You might be able to throw Portland in that equation as well too even though its kind of debatable whether or not they are actually rebuilding or not or if they just tanked a half of a season to get Lillard.

You keep this team together for the next 3 years, develop the youngsters, and make another key acquisition like Harden and this team could be a 50+ win team for years to come. These are pretty good signs IMO of things to come.

I'd rank this team 3-5 in the west. Our team was already good defensively and it just got better.Martin was the weak link in the D...and you bring in a guy with better offense and defense. Lin is improving...Harden will have a break out year and become a top 5 player. I may be in the minority but Harden is almost equal two Durant talent wise..he get's to the line more frequently and is a better play maker then Durant. Parsons has improved..his shot is much better. Asik is an improvement over Dalembert/Camby and Patterson will be replace by Terrence Jones mid season. Our bench is superior to last year it's better defensively and more athletic. Livingston will excel in his backup pg role. Not much of a drop off from Lee to Delfino. Morris has improved, Smith. So everyone from last year got better.

    Starters
    PG:Lin
    SG:Harden
    SF:parson
    PF:ppat
    C:Asik

    Bench
    PG:Livingston
    SG:Delfino
    SF:Morris
    PF:Jones
    C: Smith

    3rd team
    PG:Machado
    SG:Cook/Douglas
    SF:White
    PF:Montiejunas

Alot of people write us off because we're a young team....but I think we're going to surprise alot of people this year. We're definitely making the playoffs!!

We'll have to see how our 2nd unit plays. Their last game of the preseason, we won handily but the defense of the bench was awful, letting opponents score at will.

Hopefully we can sneak into the playoffs.

I feel this trade brings Houston to the 8th spot, with Dallas dropping out from last years teams. Golden State and Minny are talented enough to get there but they both have serious injury issues with 2 key players. But this is assuming Lin will be a little below average. If he is actually good and one of the PFs step up, then HOU is a cp3/blake injury away from home court

This is still a young and incomplete team with the worst coach in the league. They won't sniff a playoff spot, which by my way of thinking is a good thing.

I think this is crazy. I say we'll fight for the 8th spot again at best. Not that I have a problem with that after the major overhaul of our roster...

14th pick. elaborate trade to position team at a specific strength to coincide with strength of conference to get exact position for yes the 14th pick.

Since I quoted this exact same comment in another thread....ill do it again here.

There is so much homerism in this post, that it hurts.

The Rockets are somewhere in the 7-9 range in the West. They will be in the same spot as previous years, except that now, there seems to be a clearer future and more potential.

It should be an interesting year. The combination of the young talent and the ability to offer a max contract probably makes the Rockets the highest potential team in the NBA right now.

Don't know much about the NBA do you? McHale is an excellent coach for this team. It is a breath of fresh air to see the Rockets playing defense again. I see his future as a Pop-lite. Sign on to the teams goals or ship out. This is a very good thing.

And where did you pull that statement from? No place sanitary I would assume. And even if true the 14th pick with an average age of 23-24 is way way better than the 14th with an average age in the neighborhood of 28.

We're a borderline .500 team IMO. more likely we will win 35-40 games.

I agree we are 7-9 in the west, with some good potential, but let's not get carried away this team was 5 in the west even with TMAC who was a superior player to Harden, and Yao (far superior to Asik). Although Lin may be better than Alston.

If this was done early or mid way through training camp/preseason, we'd be among the best, but since it was done late and it will take time for Harden to adjust to the new team and how they play, I expect we are still only slightly better then where we were with Martin and Lamb.
