For the sake of objectivity and because I'm beginning to smell a sense of desperation from Morey to make something happen before he gets the boot: Lin - Maxed Asik - Maxed Harden - Maxed Are those truly the player you want to be paying max contracts to? I'm sorry, but I just don't see it.
With the protections involved, very tough to see OKC gaining anything higher than perhaps the 5th pick from Toronto. With Lowry, Fields, Ross and Valanciunas being added, they aren't that terrible of a team.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but Lin and Asik don't have max deals do they? I thought their contracts were structured as 8mil/yr for 3 years and we wouldn't actually pay them the 14 mil in year 3.
I think you're being overly pessimistic, we still have assets and capspace to make a move. Kevin Love, for example, has been getting antsy in Minny because he hasn't been to the playoffs yet, LBJ could leave Bosh all alone in Miami with an injured Wade, while LMA is wasting his prime in Portland. We'll see what happens, but I wouldn't be surprised if we end up making a move for a max PF.
Sooooooooo wrong. Lin/Asik average out to 8.3 million per year, nowhere near the max. Asik for sure is worth more than 8.3 million per year. Lin is yet to be seen but if he plays anything close to NY level he will be worth it as well.
Well you guys like to devalue anybody who has a fall out w/ Morey. Whether that's calculated we don't know yet but fyi Martin's a very good basketball player. Just imagine how many open looks he'll get w/ West?brook & KD. He's not a great ballhandler but he can get to basket and is a WAY better shooter than Harden. If Jeremy Lamb wasn't included this would be an okay trade.
I don't disagree. To me the negative about this deal is that I don't think we have that true superstar (there aren't many of those around), and we now it will be harder to get there because we got better. And now my dream of the top 3 picks in the 2018 Draft is shattered...
just want to be on this thread. Great move and i am pumped to add a stud forward and seeing this group grow together!
I don't think Love or Aldridge are good enough, unless of course our current guys are better than I expect. Most of our team is still fairly unknown talent.
Has nothing to do with this trade. Besides, this team currently if anything has too many young rookie/2nd year prospects. We don't need another couple more who will just clog up this rotation further. If we can dump some of them to get the best young SG in the league, I'm all for it.
You mean he's not a PF? Morey's 1st round picks in last 3 drafts: Patrick Patterson Marcus Morris Donatas Motiejunas Jeremy Lamb Royce White Terrence Jones
