I think this makes the Rockets front-runners for Bynum next year.

    - Lin
    - Harden
    - Parsons
    - Insert 6'9 PF
    - Bynum/Asik

A formidable (and very young) lineup.

I'd be very hesitant to give money to bynum due to the state of his knees.

    This.

The Rockets waaaaay overpaid here, including clearing the decks of draft picks for some time to come. And don't fool yourself, this guy is not someone who can carry a team. For what the Rockets paid here, he needed to be of that caliber, and he isn't.

    Mediocrity, here we come. Again.

Who else could we get? And we still have our own pick remember. The Toronton+Dallas picks were never really meant to be used, they were always meant to use in a trade. Generally teams aren't fond of giving up superstars for mid-1st rounders.

Two things that i keep thinking to myself:
    1. Was this the same deal we were offering Orlando?
    2. The DeMarcus Cousins twitter comment stands out to me "did Hardin just really go to the Rockets" (something along that lines) But does that make Cousins interested in Rockets?

I am a little weary as well... But we saw with the Howard trade, that we can't really get superstar players, even if we have the best offer available. So yeah, we have to overpay and yeah we have to hope, that 23 year old Harden can take the next step and become a star. But he will help us more than all we gave up to get another max worthy player.

It sucks that only big market teams get superstars, but we are doing everything we can to become relevant again...

Rockets made out like bandits on this one. Accelerates the rebuilding process by 3 years at least. Morey preformed beautifully here on this acquisition.

Kevin Martin - Putting up a tonne of useless points on a team that doesn't have him in their long-term plans.

Jeremy Lamb - will be very solid but solid Shooting Guards can be signed on the cheap everywhere in this league. James Harden is almost never available via trade, apart from rare exceptional unique circumstances like the one OKC was facing coming into this upcoming season.

Draft picks - we had absolutely no use for them. They will just be another Patrick Patterson or Marcus Morris. Absolutely useless. Now Morey turned them into an All-Star? Rockets did one of the best trades since the T-Mac trade.

Crazy how everyone here cries for a big time move for either a top player or a top 3 draft pick yet when we receive both all in one trade ( Harden being a former 3rd overall ) all the skeptics stay pessimistic and b**** about how we gave "too much"... for a 23 year old all-star SG whom has yet to even scratch his prime?

    What a crock-a-sh**

They did not clear the decks of draft picks for some time to come. They gave up three that did not originally belong to them. They also have flexibility to bring in near-max, if not max player next offseason.

And you give very compelling evidence that he is not someone who can lead a team. Kudos for that in-depth analysis.

Ppl aren't seeing this. And focusing on last year's finals and his bench role. Ridiculous. Great trade. Parsons and our own 1st rounder would have been too much, but martin, lamb and a few mediocre picks? Sounds good to me. If the Rockets had a chance at Noel, I might feel differently.

It also should be noted that Harden is ONLY 23. Houston not only got Better but YOUNGER.

How many years do you expect the Lakers and SAS to compete?

    Kobe retires in 2 years.
    Duncan is no spring chicken.

That's not even pointing out that Dirk is running out of time fast.

Rockets will be entering the prime years for their players (25-30) at the exact time those teams will be struggling to redo their rosters.

Morey built a team that is not only shooting for a playoff berth with room to acquire a tier 1 player, but the team will be peaking at exactly the right time.

In other words, the Rockets won't be championship contenders for the next 2 years, but years 3-8? If a decent proportion of the players they have pan out, they will be right in the running.

    Don't like it Morey

If we have no use for them, why did we trade Lowry and Hill to get them? This trade HAS to be evaluated with those players lost in mind.

Don't like the trade overall unless Harden really steps up. I think Morey is starting to reach.

For those saying Harden is dependent on KD/RW.

We gave up too much .....

Lamb is a top 5 talent with superstar upside ........

The Toronto pick is likely to be in the 7-9 range.

Martin was an expiring that could have played much more value back into that contract before the deadline....worth a 1 now to a contender... likely more at the deadline

The protected 1 from Dallas coming later.

Then there's the Bobcat pick....high second.

    #5
    #8
    #24 or so
    #36
and the potential haul for Martin ...#20 and #25

5,8,20,24,25, and 36.......which could have been used to build/ move up in the coming daft.

But its the philosophy, or lack of one besides $$$$ that pisses me off. LOOK AT THE LIN SIGNING! (where we could have had Goran who is better at 6 1/2 per AND isn't damaged goods), and I see Leslie's need for speed/$$$$ ... Despite not starting a rebuild when Yao walked off the court in LA, Morey had us positioned as well as he could. Instead we were held hostage while Les raked in dough from his Chinese Connections. ...We waited patiently for this?!!?
    !

    Kevin, Morey, CD, etc......

The people and assets were in place to ensure/instill the longterm culture. I know we need a star, but was it too much to let everyone/everything unfold.

I feared that Les would botch it, putting his fingers in the pie and he has.

Enjoy your instant gratification over the next several years.

    #@&%%$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ .....pathetic.

Put me with solid on this.

There will be fannies in the seats .... Morey is incredible, but his talents have allowed Les to get away with bloody murder.....and the beat goes on.
